Would have expected the A4 front to be some type of soft stuff due to modern accident legislation. But no?

Yes, it's soft. But, there are benefits to using a plastic bumper at this stage. Firstly, it's flexible, so you can manipulate it easily to get it to fit. Then you can use a heat gun to form and revise a shape to a reasonable degree. It's also very easy to bond together and it's very light, so that gaffa & cable tie can be used to hold it in place on your own, whilst you make changes. Bonus, it's easy to cut & No fibreglass dust either!
However, a final mould will be made from which the new heavily revised fibreglass front produced. I do not have any intentions to make a mould of the bonnet /wing /headlight area, as all these modifications are relatively easy and as it is just for my track car and can be done directly on the car. I may well cut out the plastic vents & bond them to the final fibreglass panel together with the meshed vents to simplify the main mould. This will also allow the original Audi vents to be fitted utilising the plastic fixing tabs. Whatever works best for you is ok.
What really matters apparently, is that your panel is secured & fixed firmly so that your fibreglass mould will fit perfectly from the mould. As I'm using the original hard fixing points plus a new box section tube bolted to the crashbox with bonded fixings to the plastic bumper. The plastic bumper will also be bonded to the existing wheel arches, so it should be fine. Expanded foam spray behind may help hold it in shape if I encounter problems. On top of that, I will be fitting my plywood splitter first to ensure the bumper lower perimeter is exactly where I want it & level, as it will be fixed to it eventually & I don't want any gaps!
Although I have put a great deal of thought & planning into the coupe rear, side scoops, front wing vent & now the revised front, I am a total novice & improvising as I go along. Sometimes, too much online research on how other people do things will take you down a well trodden but often restricted path. Common sense & good design is half the battle.
Luckily for me, when I run out of talent, I can then pass it to someone who has a wealth of experience in fibreglass car mould production.
The fibreglass guy I'm using, has produced all the car panel moulds for a car I have recently ordered, which will be delivered late this year. That too is fibreglass! It's my favourite vintage car of all time! Unfortunately it's not the real deal, but then I can't afford a real one, not many can! So he has plenty of experience in using fibreglass.

OK, here it is...
Toyota C-HR. Well, from above the rear vents & below. So, I will be adding a similar diffuser & perforated Aluminium midsection for exhaust heat. by removing the VX lower section entirely along the joint line & blending in the Toyota's butt, it will look quite radical & unique, that's if it works. I have done measurements in a carpark...lol. there will be dremelling involved, but it should work. whether it looks right or not will be another matter. My VX rear light clusters will be meshed anyway with hidden LED Halo lights behind. but I may have to alter the shape. The bumper vents will incorporate brake lights too.
It may look a bit OTT....But, It's a track car! Do I care?
