Track Day Air Intake Modification

I’m going to redo it. But, I’m out of PVC, awaiting delivery. I’ll finish of the side intakes. Again, I don’t like the side pod shape either, so I’m going to change that too. I hope to get both sides finished today, before I need to cut the grass.

Did you run any numbers on how much air will flow through those bigger side flaps?
Reason is that i noticed my turbo vents are starting to come loose a little, and was wondering on how much pressure your enlarged ones may take at top speed.

I’ve done no calculations. They barely stick out. But, because the door and rear panel curves inwards at the back, the opening looks big. I estimate that 70% of the air will flow through or around my oil cooler and up and over new wheel arches and exit directly out from the Vented rear. The main airflow has a straight through passage. The remains 30% of air I’m hoping will flow into the engine Bay Area to remove heat and again vent out of the rear.
The back of the car may look more Mclaren P1 style with large Black grill areas and lights fitted within the grills. My side pods will be bolted in place with captive nuts, same as the rear clam.
The truth is, it’s Probably just an unnecessary mod that will make the car worse! 😂

Your airducts are in line with the aggressive lines of the total picture.
Now here is an example of an unnecessary mod

I’m still unsure whether to fit a big rear wing or just leave it as it is.

I've been having a good stare at this and i'm not sure the big wing would work. The curvature at the back reminds me a bit of the MK2 Audi tt and i don't think the big one would work. Also reminds me a bit of the Europa but i cannot picture that in my head. Lee, up my way has just sold his and i'm sure his just had a smallish spoiler. Cannot beleive how quick you get the shapes knocked up. There's a lot waiting to see how this turns out but it's a helluva effort.

Overall, it looks good. But I think the rear end needs less of an overhang? So, I will be moving the rear bumper forward and also rotating it a little to reduce the slightly bulbous, awkward appearance.
I may try and fit a Boot lip spoiler like an M3 CSL or perhaps just make one up to fit.

I really like how this is shaping up. I was uncertain at first but it looks great. For me, I would do a proper engine cover. Whilst I like the reuse philosophy, there's so much effort gone in I'd love to see something awsomerer.

Any ideas on how to form a front grill surround to fit the front properly? The only idea I’ve come up with is to use a large profile door Foam seal and just fit that into the opening. Then I guess I’ll have to cover it in carbon fibre?

Well, I agree although I’m intending to reuse all the hinges, lock & opening mechanism (moved up obviously). It also increases the boot size! It looks more OEM in terms of It’s construction and is better resolved than those currently available (sorry just my opinion)
Just remember, my car is just a track car! It’s just a exterior update with cooling benefits: also, it was starting to look dated.

The lights are giving away audi bases anyway, so that ship has sailed.
Why not use an aftermarket version grill without the rings in it, that already fits the contours of the bottom section.
That way you only have to find a way to connect the top section.

Unfortunately, the bumper has been cut about Both in width & height before being patched back up & refitted. The Audi grill won’t fit and it’s also MASSIVE!
I’m probably not going to fit a front grill, maybe the lower ones, I’ll relook at meshes further down the line.

I’m surprised how quickly the changes can be made and how relatively clean the whole process is (so far!)
Next will be the front Bumper bonnet and grill opening.
I’ve just purchased a set of Nissan GTR R35 rear lights which I am hoping to fit.
