Well, it's done. I'm too close to this project to be unbiased in my opinion. I guess that is always likely to be the case when you are working on your car.

Anyway, the bumper grafted in as expected, or should I say as I had hoped it would. It was relatively straightforward as I had thought through what I would do, so when I came back, I just cracked on.

I chose the C-HR bumper mainly due to the diffuser vent and air vents. But also on its width and height. It seems easier to cut down a bigger bumper than adding to a small one. It also allows the wheel arch detail to be cut off so that the original VX arches are retained.

I used the shadow method for getting the light outline to cut out with good results!

As for the lights, well, still not sure. But, I think whatever is used, it will look "unusual" as it's fitted to a VX, which we are all used to. I guess the old lights could have been used, but personally, I think they look dated. I could add the inner lights to the light in the photos. I think I'll buy one in and try it.

Struggling to see the lines in the pictures from most angles with all the different colours and materials but the one straight on from behind looks mega.

I'm sorry it's annoying you so much...Best not look at them, it's not a problem to me.

....It's not quite 100 threads but as I have said to you before, searching a single thread with 1000+ pages and 10's of 1000's of replies is very time consuming and I find that irritating when I'm searching for specific information within one thread.

I'm happy separating to keep each main conversion area so that when people search in the future, they don't spend a week looking for what they're after.

I appreciate the praise, but it's far from done and I'm not convinced on the lights yet. Perhaps after I fit the other light and construct the area in between the lights, I may think differently?

Ive been asked to upload clearer photos? and also photos of the VX without the C-HR bumper in place to see how Ive attached it? ...Errr, cable ties so far? Ive found a neat way to blend in and retain the plastic to the existing fibreglass panels, which I will elaborate on later.

..Having multiple coloured panels is almost like test car camouflage!

If this was a road car, I'd definitely have a totally different rear end as this looks way too aggressive and vulgar. I'd be embarrassed, especially when people notice that it's a mere Vauxhall VX220 with a Carlos Fandango, Super Duper Khan Style, bodywork makeover.

There are worse looking cars people have made with a totally straight face.

I would agree track car...why not? It's an excuse to go a bit wild.

Yeah, but people will now expect a driving god to be at the wheel of this 200mph super car on track!

Fezzasus "I'm not sold on the rear lights. The lines don't really match up to any of the bodywork contours. Have you thought about flipping the lights upside down?"

...The new Skoda light fits perfectly flush with the contour of the VX rear wing. The rear edge also is where I would have liked it to be. WIth the cutaway of the old VX light on the clam, it's very difficult from the photos to see how the top surface will meet the new Skoda light. Also, the old VX rear area surface, which has the logo on, is being removed and moved backwards by 50mm or replaced completely with a new surface.

But, I do agree with you that it doesn't look that great! I have ordered the inner light unit that attaches onto the light I have (see below)

skoda%20kodiaq%20light_zpsiiibdinn.jpg

But, as you know, there are a vast plethora of rear lights to choose from, many look great, but may not sit comfortably on the VX's smaller dimensions and contours. It's a tricky guessing game! I have ordered the pair of 2017 Audi TT rear lights for £100 below to see if this style of light is more suitable.

s-l1600_zpsd7xyrnmf.jpg

...It's a pain, as each trial means dremmelling out more of the wing to see if it sit correctly. What have I started!!!

How about some fotoshops before dremeling?

...Yeah, that's true. But, Photoshop is a total fudge, it doesn't really prove if the light surface will sit flush with the bodywork contours. if you adjust the light unit to match the contour, it often means that the light unit is then at an awkward angle.

Dremel 1  Photoshop 0

All this agonising over the rear lights, surely you only need a big assed orange light on the right :)
