At £35+ a second hand relay it makes sense to have a look at exactly what electricary is inside one and replicate into a normal relay and sell them.

I have an electrically-failed VX220 if you want that..

You can rewire the base so that it uses a normal relay, just means the button when pressed with engine on will starter on

There is a Dutch guy that allready went through the works of reverse enginering one, but i take it you want to take a swing at making one that suits the UK market pricing?

What do you use to stick your wraps on? Mayo, sour cream or Gaucamole? I'm assuming the last one results in a lumpy finish.

Salsa verde as its a bit more eco friendly and if you blitz it down then you get no lumps

The price (€130,- ex shippingcost) for a brandnew "Big Yellow" relais (better quality then OEM) is apparently no problem for Germany, France, Italy,The Netherlands and some Lotus and VX220 owners living in the UK. Last week for instance, we have sold our complete stock to Germany. Within a few weeks our stock will be update again.

Sounds like Ormes is the perfect candidate for the rewire job to start using the grey relay for the starting.

How much effort is required to bin off the start button and use the key? I am assuming that this would involve binning off the yellow relay?

You can still use the yellow relay, but as the start button grounds and the Key pos 3 would be +12V you'd need another relay in the mix

 

OR do some rewiring and bin off the yellow + use key

I like option 2. It seems like the most sensible thing to do and I find the start button thing a bit naff.
