Hi people.

When starting, does anyone else have a starter that turns over really slowly for the first one or two revs before it goes fast enough to actually start the engine? Is this normal?

Gives me a bit of a scare as it sometimes goes so slow it kind of stops in between the first couple of revs..

Cheers,
Ian

Did you have a loo at your yellow starter relay in the boot for corrosion and to check if it is still snuck in place?

Foxy recently had the same issue, eventually resulting in a non starter, stranding the car at Zandvoort.

Root cause was starter motor wiring shorting on the gearbox.

Thanks Chaps.

Yellow relay should be fine but I’ll have another look. Had it all out a few years back when I had a no-start starter problem.

I’ll check the starter wiring, thanks. I’ve been down there recently and all looked ok on a cursory glance but I wasn’t looking for that specifically.

I would check the earth straps and battery clamps are good first.

But if it turns out to be the starter motor I have a brand new z22se OEM starter motor available if you need it.

Thanks Neil. I don't think it's the motor as it's done this with 2 separate motors (not new though).

I'll try those things first but may come back to you in the end.  Ta.
