So; what do you think?

I’ve watched carfection’s walkaround and it certainly looks promising. Lotus quality will have to step up a fair few levels mind!

I know it’s unlikely we will ever see one being priced at circa 2m.

i  spotted some imperfections in the carbon and some of the panels had massive scratches all over them.. typical lotus really.

Purely from a price/performance perspective, the car is about 10x as expensive as the tesla roadster.

Is it 10x better?

Mostly waste of time and effort, designed to fulfil a branding requirement.

 

Also, dare I say it, another clone-like recipe to satisfy current clamour for 'green' tech application.

 

A 'light(er) weight' Porsche 918 - type car with an light, high efficiency atmospheric engine with electric assistance would be faaar more appealing..

Lotus electrics? Good one.

It's hard enough finding 50kW fast chargers that work, let alone 150kW+ chargers for newer gen stuff. You'll need to live at Sizewell if you're hoping to charge it at 800kW or you'll be towing one of these and hooking up to it every 4 laps of Silverstone and maybe each lap of the 'ring.
 

 

 

 

Otherwise it's going to take a week to charge on your Government subsidised domestic supply.

The cynic in me agrees with the above but I don't want to be a grumpy old man all the time.

 

I'm all for this rejuvenating the Lotus brand and bringing them back to the forefront of sports cars etc. I think the design is pretty good, modern but not all over the place. I like the back end a lot. 2 million is a lot of money and not many will be able to afford them obvs but hopefully similar design styles will trickle through to the lower end cars. As a halo piece I think if they can pull off what they are saying and get the quality there then great.

 

Does have a bit of a Bahar feel to it; shouty and look at me. Minus the rappers.

Makes no sense to me and I can't see it being made. At this price point it is in the mega Ferrari and Bugatti territory and I can't see them selling it as the heritage can't drag it up there. I would have preferred them to focus on an Esprit replacement at around the 90K price point. Undercut the big 'mini' ferrari market, cheaper than an NSX and 911. Placing it in the more affordable 500bhp market. Strong sentiment for that from a whole generation of potential buyers!

 

Whole thing feels like a marketing ploy and in reality they have no intention of making it or expectations of selling one.

You may be right James.

Could just be a case of getting the lotus brand out there. And a this is what we could do; if there’s limited uptake it’ll disappear off the radar.
