Welcome.

A good friend of mine worked at lotus while the s2 and vx where being developed and he said just the other day while looking at mine that he remembers there being a lot more effort on the build quality for the vx as there was an external QA team.

Not looked at an s2 in detail myself though.

Lightening yellow was a limited run of NA cars by the way. Turbo are a different yellow.

Lightning Yellow limited edition 2.2’s are exactly the same colour as the yellow turbo. 2.2’s that aren’t the LY’s are different yellows, there were two different yellows used

My take as an ex-Vauxhall/vx220 salesman, it’s not a Lotus & yet a Lotus Carlton is? Both sold by limited numbers of Vauxhall dealers through the Vauxhall dealer network. But the Lotus name wasn’t used in it’s name & that’s the difference?

Question: Is it a Vauxhall?

Only in name. There are no other Vauxhall cars comparable, but there are Lotus's.

That said is the Tesla roadster a Lotus?
Guess the answer is no. The tech that makes the Tesla important is the Tesla electric running gear.

There are Lotus owners who actually say the Europa isn't really a Lotus.

Personally having had 3 Lotuses I like the thought of a mainstream badged Lotus. I'm calling my car stealthy!

I quite like saying "it's just a vauxhall" I know what it really is!

Why bother trying to pidgeon hole it? Why not just judge it by it's own capabilities, rather than sticking a polarising name tag on it?

I like saying it’s a Vauxhall too! It’s nice to be different!!

Not sure if the Tesla got a Lotus type number though?? I wonder what the justification has to be to get a lotus type number! From my understanding Tesla were much more involved in the production of the roadster than Lotus were with the VX220. Fascinating!!!

I've always called mine a Vauxhall with a taxi engine.

I just say it's a Vauxhall VX220. When the questions come, I say Google it.

I like that it's a Vauxhall.  It seems to confuse some people and bring out the snob factor in others.

I recall not long ago, before the world was put on pause, sitting in it on a retail park carpark having been in PC World.  Heard someone passing by say to their other half "It's a Vauxhall?!"

People (the less well educated general public) seem to have forgotten about it.  I admit maybe I fell into that camp as it had slipped my mind too when I was looking for something small and fun and was test driving Elises.  Took a friend to remind me of the VX220.  Drove one and immediately preferred it over the Lotus and bought it.  The extra few £k in the bank was nice too!

It's both Vauxhall and Lotus.  Also had it not been for GM's money to develop the new platform would Lotus even be in business today?

Its a VX220

It will never be a Lotus

I went back to a VX220 after having a Exige v6.. Perf the VX all day long.. more fun... plus 40k cheaper
