Be careful of those walls at Charade 🙏. When I was there a few years ago they were magnets for the French drivers cars 🙄

Nice circuit though👍

Tell me more

I keep hearing Charade has gone for ever.  It is an absolutely fantastic track.  Is this a frolic of your own and you've booked direct?  Very tempted.

Sort of my own frolic I guess, yes.

Been looking at Charade for a few years but its never been within a reasonable number of days of other trackdays in France I was doing until this year. Several of us were already booked on to do Le Mans and Dijon with LoT so it seemed within reach.

Its with a French TDO called Nomad. Google translate has been useful!

Recently got told I have to take a few weeks of furlough over the summer because of covid, so that sealed it! Spend the whole week in France.

No hotels or anything booked yet for Charade, I will update the page as and when. The hotels for Dijon and Le Mans are part of the package deal LoT were running a while ago.

Charade is a great circuit in a wonderful location, huge atmosphere as noise echos around the mountains. Once you’re familiar it’s a joy to drive near the limit.

I believe it’s owned and partly run by the local council. Imagine that in the UK, it would soon be shut down and a park and ride built in its place.

It’s also a very friendly circuit, a couple of years ago I was passing by in the VX and called in for a walk round. There was a private track
day going on next thing everyone has gravitated around the VX and I’m invited out for a couple of ‘parade’ laps and then a barbecue afterwards! I left the circuit about 10pm...

Watch the furlough position closely, they are not allowing new people on furlough from a certain point, this includes people who were furloughed but have gone back to work, will not be allowed to be re furloughed, not sure what the date is but it's July I think, after that date if you're not already on furlough then HMRC will not allow you to be put on furlough

I think the cut off date for new furloughs is next week, 10th June. If you haven't been on furlough before then, you're employer is not allowed to add you to the scheme. However, if you have been on furlough on or before that date, you can be re-furloughed again (and again) up until the scheme finishes at the end of September, including working part time or going back for one weeks work, then going on furlough again, etc. Complex.

According to this you have to be furloughed this coming week , then it closes to new entrants

Yes the quarantine is a concern, but most of this trip was booked well before the covid situation. So in for a penny in for a pound eh ?

What will be will be.

Just to be clear, I'm a contractor.

So furlough for me is "stay at home and don't bother working because we're not paying you"

I'm tempted to do Le Mans, where is everyone staying as the hotel package is booked up and I've not been before.

Not booked hotel yet, but there seems to be plenty of availability on booking.com

which is the package hotel? Mercure?
