If you fit the cheater you shouldn't get any fault codes relating to the EGR system once the valve has been removed/blanked off. I believe you can still source cheaters from ebay.

If it's a 2.2 I can tell you how to code it out in the ECU.
A much better solution than fitting the cheater if you know the map addresses to be changed to switch of the EGR completely. It can just be left in place then for the visual MOT check.

To begin with you'll need a £18 MPPS cable.
Then you'll be reading your ECU's .bin file.
Then you'll be using a hex editor to change a certain 1 to a 0.
Then you'll be reuploading the modified .bin to the ECU, having made sure you've used the new (probably automatic) checksum.
Still okay with this?
There a bit more to it, of course, but i've flashed my ECU many times including changing the idle speed map and the VE tables and you come to peace with it.

Should be OK I was a S370 Assembler programmer for the early years of my 36 year career in IT lol...
Is this something that can be done with the OBDTuners software as I have that on my car?

I think 2-20 meant to say, is that obdtuner has the "disable cat check" option.
A bit expensive if you don't allready have it though.

If you are willing to share, I wouldn't mind knowing which address needs changing to what in the bin file for the EGR to be turned off. 😀
I have tried to have a 'mess about' with GMPT E15 ECU and find some useful tables (wanted to lift the rev limit up), but as I think many have already discovered, it just doesn't play nice for amateurs like me.

Slindy used to make some hardware cheaters.
You can read up on the technical side here.

I'm still not sure whether we're actually talking about EGR Cheaters or O2/Lambda sensor cheaters.
If you're after an EGR cheater and you can't just re-position your original EGR valve, then how about https://www.ebay.co....BIAAOSwPn1dHElo

Are people on this thread constantly mixing up (secondary) lambda cheaters/simulators (aka. cat-efficiency errors) and EGR cheaters/simulators?
Seem to be used through eachother, but ummm.. Kinda different
Bye, Arno.
