Following another long period involving the appearance of the dreaded engine management light, along with a MOT failure on Lambda reading, I asked Back on Track for their opinion.
I was told that the cat is faulty (according to the code reading) and would need replacing. Now, there is also a slight exhaust leak to the 180 section at the joint connection between the cat and silencer although that was (somewhat crudely) repaired to get through the MOT.
As the car is approaching its 20 years birthday, I think it may be time to replace the whole system and the lambda sensors.
I have a quote from Courtenay (£1176) but this does not include a pre-cat (is that going to be a problem with emissions? It would seem not from previous posts)
I also have a quote from A P H Engineering (£1136). They have apparently acquired the jigs/drawings etc. from CTE.
Finally, Elise Parts comes out at £1260.
Anybody else gone down this route recently and in particular, anybody used APH?
Any replies gratefully received.
