Done
do we have 30 people willing to pay £10?
£10 + jar of honey you promised me.

I'd be happy to pay £12 a year to keep it going - a £1 a month it would be worth it.

I'd be happy to pay however, access should be restricted to only those who pay, not Farcebook freeloaders. Of course there would always be the twat sharing their login, but that should be obvious after a while.

I'd prefer it to be as open as possible.

Must be a way to extract the data ? Not sure of the legality of doing so, was on a Ducati forum once, it disappeared overnight when the owner sold the site and content, arguably, the content was not his to sell as it had been generated by the usersThat's a shame.
I wonder why he would not sell, but not invest further (using donations, of course).
It's not as if they are liable to launch a new VX220 and it suddenly become a lucrative asset to have a site, so sitting just on it is worthwhile.

Apparently foxy has tried to get the site and data off the current owner and he wouldn't sell. So this may be a dead end unfortunately
How long ago - maybe he might change his mind now there is such low traffic?

Lee doesn't think so

Taking subscriptions, but not investing in nor securing the website just seems like a twatish thing to do to be honest just to p*ss people off.
I stopped my subscriptions a few years ago because I kept getting the site not secure messages, maybe everyone else should stop theirs too.
Can't understand why the "owner" won't identify themselves and share their thoughts? They don't sell headlights too do they?

It's not the headlight guy as far as I'm aware, guess he's just trying to get his investment back,Taking subscriptions, but not investing in nor securing the website just seems like a twatish thing to do to be honest just to p*ss people off.

I'm having to use the Tapatalk to access this site as the website/server has been infected and has a redirect on it.
Anyway, I've been in touch with a chap called Bibs who, from what I understand, is the main person behind theLotusforums.Com. From what I understand he hosts the site and has made an incredibly generous offer to host our site free of charge, as it's a Lotus-based site.
Furthermore, he has also offered to help to port the existing content to an alternative platform software. He suggests using the same platform as theLotusforums.Com, which is called 'Invision'. (For those that are interested, you can get a feel for the software by taking a look at the Lotus forums website)
The only fly in the ointment is the annual cost of the software, which as far as I can tell is around $1100 per year. Obviously, there would need to be sufficient interest in the members subscribing to cover this cost. Also, I don't really understand how this might work in practice but, once again, Bibs could almost certainly help with this.
So the question is, how many members are there on here that would be likely to subscribe.
Regarding the existing site here and it's 'ownership' and accessibility for porting, if the current owner won't make it available for porting, that's just not fair or right. Also, since the site is clearly riddled with infected links, the security certificate is invalid, and it's not been maintained for a long time, I'd suggest the best course of action for those members who use it is to dump their current subscription and pay it to a new portal. Obviously the biggest downside is that the existing data is going to be lost, but what's it's value if it's inaccessible anyway?
Comments please?

You actually wouldn't need all that many subscriptions to bring it down to a reasonable level. Realistically ten or twelve squids a year won't cut it. And, it would definitely have to be be subscribers only, no Farcebook freeloaders, that being the case that might just persuade enough to contribute. As has been said, it's pretty shitty the way the present owner is dealing with the site - won't sell/transfer, but won't upgrade to the degree we had software failure and lot loads of data. I gave up my subscription years ago also because the site was not being maintained.

That looks a lot more professional however it doesn't sound like the current owner would make porting available.
