And also (i am told) not all ecu's behave the same even though they are off the same make & model.

Just had mine put back to v10 & it's much better. Leaves the MIL light on though but Regal are hoping to get the next version shortly which should resolve this & all probs with v11.

Paul Whats the rev limiter on v10? and did you get it on the rolling rd again? Theres an interesting email on rev limiters on tunning and mod section. It seems that going over 6700 may not be too good for the engine- drive train pistons etc. Have a look and let me know your views. Also, after having a chat with the guy with the lotus at the nomities it seems that once you have a remap you dont need to drive around for the map to kick in. According to him once programmed the ecu reads to new map as it has nothing else to read. This has confused me since Chris at regal said that I will have to drive atleast 50 miles for the new map to kick in and notice the difference. Also if this is the case surley you could not measure the difference of any remapping on a rolling road straight away? I hope that above make sense Mani

Correct in thoughts i think
IMO ecu only has a learning curve if car is fitted with mods for a few miles afterwards

It's a software upgrade. Surely it overwrites the original map and once loaded is available immediately.

Otherwise it would be like installing Microsoft Office on your pc but having the leave the pc running for a couple of days before Word and Excel are available to use.

Hi all...

It's not so easy. If the ECU of the Speedster is like the one on my former Mazda MX-5, at "power up" (i.e. initialization) the ECU use a default map, then it learns how to correct the injection to build a new map, adapted to the motor (in relation with the O2 sensor I guess)...
Only the calculated map uses the motor at its full power...

(on my MX-5, after switching off the battery, the motor was "hesitating" at idle until I drove for a few Km (20 to 30))

Marco What you said also makes sence. Now we need some person to confirm that the vx ecu (which is the same as zafira, vectra) is similar to the type used in mx 5! Mani

r3d vx- version 11 is the "duff" version. Regal hopefully will sort this out in the next couple of weeks or so- thats what I have been told anyway. interestingly- although 1st and 2nd rev limiter cuts at 6400, in 3rd i took it to 6800- before I backed down- surley that cant be healthy something definately wrong with version 11! Paul, You say you have been moved back to version 10 and its much better. I take it its more than just the extra revs, Do you feel any more response? Wellsy

Spoke to Regal yesterday, they are working back through the orders and getting people to go back and be re-programmed. I think this will speed up when version 12 is running (this will be as good as version 10 speed wise but will also remove the management light) I await that call (although I wont be waiting too long) mike

Wellsy

Responce is better. I found v11 to be very flat & lacking in response when compared to the previuos version i was running which was v7.

Incidently i still think v7 was better but i guess the only way to be certain is to load the software version by version & put the car on the rollers. Problem is as someone has already mentioned there is a limited number of remaps you can do before the ecu locks you out. Waiting for further testing by regal

Good to hear from you Minime... just cant wait to get rid of v11 and get v12. I hope you will be the first to test v12 and gives the rest of us the thumbs up if its bang on! Ps- does Chris offer rolling rd - since I want mine rroaded before and after to see whether there is an increase in performance. I just cant afford travelling down to Southampton if its not bang on.
