Yeah, I get it, opening things up a bit where the flow starts to increase. No negative effects at all? You said that the throttle response increased as well?

Yes exactly, improving the flow = better throttle response. Whilst the butterfly valve was out (to polish it for better flow) I carefully polished the edge thinking it would be ok, but when the engine was first started the tickover shot up to 3000rpm (then dropped back to 1000rpm) causing the ecu light to come on  but after a small run the tickover reverted back to 2000rpm then dropping to 1000rpm at cold start up (my z2.2se as always done this at cold start up). I think the dirt build up (as in the pics previously) had caused the ecu to adjust the tickover parameters and the small run reset them. I found out some more regarding the fuel pressure regulator, apparently at tickover the fpr is open (thus low fuel pressure) and on full throttle it is sucked closed (high fuel pressure), the pipe to the air intake being the vacuum. This would explain why standard air filters work better than a high flow unit, as standard/high pressure loss filters require more suction to get the same flowrate as a high flow/low pressure loss filter, thus the fpr opens fully sooner.

So with a highflow coldair intake you risk to run lean?

Regarding the FPR I´ve seen a tuning firm V MAX

In german (choose cancel)

they use 1.0 bar extra pressure for the 190 HP stage, as well as a 11:1 compression ratio..................interesting

A standard filter requires more suction to flow and this results in less gases reaching the cylinder than with a high flow filter, which loses less suction across the filter so more gases travel to the cylinder, but both filters flow the same amount only at different presures (think of how a supercharger works - getting more gases into the cylinder). So with a standard filter the fpr would give higher pressure at a lower rpm than the high flow filter (both should still max out), so with a high flow filter a higher pressure fpr and a remap would prevent any risk of running lean.

Vill berätta lite off topic här... :D

OK, vem köper och testar? Jag kan tänka mig att ställa upp... Måste göra något kul i vinter...
