:o YEP €TWO GRAND !!!! We must be able to sort this out in a cheaper way, to my knowledge they are not made from GOLD!!!!! Does anyone on the forum have the ability to make/copy/source hinges at a reasonable price? Would rather spend cash on remap etc. at that price.

Only if you let them maken the mod for you.
If you buy them and mount them yourself, it's only 1.600€ (+- 1.110£).

That seems very expensive, given enough time and room I could knock them up myself.

TBH if you think that it's so overpriced, why don't you make them youself.

Would rather spend cash on remap etc. at that price.

I'd imagine that the guy / company that developed these hinges did so with a target market in mind, with a porjected number of sales = x.

The hinges won't have developed themselves, so the price will include the cost of development, spread over x amount of sales.

X won't be a big number, hence the seemingly high price .

Whilst we're on the subject, why is it you're happy to pay £500 for a remap, which is basically £500 for the time it takes to blow a chip. It's because you understand that you're part paying for the development, and not just the for the time it takes to blow an eeprom.

Same response to you then.

How long till your hinges are ready?

They never will be, I don't have the time to waste making something for my car that adds that much weight. As for them being over priced, they are but so is everything else I don't see your point, I don't grow my own tea.

Not all comments can be positive. I think it' been said quiet a few times that the re-maps are over priced, but it's hardly 2k. 2k is a lot to spend on door hinges.

Remaps aren't overpriced As has been mentioned before, you are paying for the development not the product. It takes a few seconds/minutes to reflash a chip in an ECU if you were paying on that basis you'd only expect to pay 50p or so.

Which is the point I was trying to make cf the hinges.

It's so easy to sit infront of your companies PC and say 'Pah, they're far too expensive'. Maybe so, but least they got off their arses and made a solution rather than chundering over the cost of something that, even if it was a sheckle, you'd probably still wouldn't fit 'cause it's too heavy'

Fucks me right off.

Yup thumbsup I mean look at Deans wing.. its made from bits of wood and black plastic and yet it's still costing about a grand. I could go to Halfrauds and pick up something for the back of a corsa for £50 I expect but it's not going to be any good. You get what you pay for and who are we to argue about the costs of the amount of effort gone into developing things for an extremely small market. Hats off to people that develop things for our cars as it's not a very sensible commercial marketplace to get into !

Have to agree with Bengie / ShinyAndy. It is a big commercial risk to make something new for such a limited market. Although with remaps I do feel that after the intitial development costs have been more than adequately recouped they can then offer them at a slighty reduced rate - like Regal's winter offer for instance.

I would probably pay £500 for them.

£2000 seems steep even considering development costs.

Edited: I meant Euros not pounds

Who said they were £2000?

Read the posts!

They are 2000 Euros fitted.
This drops to 1600 Euros if you just buy the hinges.

Might as well type that as the real content, no one reads the posts properly anyway.
