OK, reached the point where i need to put rear tyres on the vx if im keeping it for another summer. Had price quotes for yoko' toyo & B'stone. Was considering the toyos so did a bit of digging regarding toyo fronts for a 5.5 rim. Turns out that the 205/50/17 fits (manufacturer guide 5.5 - 7.5rim) and that @60mph for the b'stone the toyo would be doing 59.5mph so its a pretty good match. My questions are:- Does anybody have experience of this fit & any info on the handling qualities of the vx with toyos? Also if i go ahead & buy a full set, how much £££'s can i expect to get back for my b'stone fronts with @ 5mm tread left? chinky chinky Macca

DON'T DO IT!

I've got them on mine now! It totally ruins the handling of the car. I'm about to replace them back to the 175 bridgestone tyres.

There's far too much tyre wall flex which causes horrid handling. I daren't take a corner as fast as I did with the standard bridgestones.

btw that's my opinion on a 5.5 inch rim

They will on full lock when going over bumps such as kerbs. For normal driving they are fine

I don't understand why anyone wants an alternative to the Bridgestones, unless you are doing a lot of track work. The Bridgestones are an excellent tyre for road and the odd trackday IMO. I have thought about A048's, but that would mean a change of rims and I'm only likely to do about 5 trackdays this year.

Cheers for the feedback fellas, was considering changing tyre choice to toyos as i was told they are better than the b'stone. Thing is you get a snowball effect then to put toyos on the front hence my initial post regarding fitment Think the upshot of it all is to stay with original fitment unless changing rims too. Q. what is the rim width and offset for the rear... is it the standard ET35 7.5 inch wide? I think my best solution for the money would be a pair of b'stones on the rear, ditch the precat and buy a new backbox with the money left over! :D
