it says 1109 on the bottom left (although that could mean something completely different)

But what about the fact they have MDB1890 and MDB1891 in big letters on the label? Those product codes are definately 1144's. Even the elises.co.uk website quote above says:

....Mintex 1144 pads and they are £84 + VAT per set for front pads and £76 + VAT per rear set for rear pads. The Mintex part numbers are MDB1890 for the front set and MDB1891 for the rear set.

Surely Mintext don't have two types of pads under the same product number?

£110.64 ....Brakes International.... INC VAT mine are in the CTECH boxes and the writing on the pads clearly states 1144 compound. On fronts it says CTECH MD81890M1144 I cant read the rears as theres a rubber/pad attached Andy

Just to clarify... Ones from azmotors are C-TecH branded (who i believe own Mintex) and labelled M1144. Part numbers match and look like the ones on the mintex site. The only difference is they're £53 for a full set. Stock up everybody !! :D

Ozzig - are you sure about that picture? Never seen VX pads with the little 'Wings' either side? My current pads look more like this:

Sorry for any confusion, that's just an example from the website.

I was getting at, do they look like kosher Mintex pads, do they have numbers in these places, and are the numbers the right ones ?

Also interested if they're the right ones :)

Getting worried. No sign of my pads for a week and website says they were dispatched.

Turns out DHL had a fire in their warehouse so my pads went up in smoke! The chap at azmotors was really helpful and apologetic and promised to resend them though so everything is cool. Therefore, if you're waiting too this might be the reason. thumbsup

Hmmmm, mine were in a blue box with C-Tech written on it and 1144 written here and there (on the box and on the pad). IIRC the writing on the pad was yellow but I can't be sure. Are you sure the product number you're referring to doesn't just identify the fitment (pad shape), in which case it would be the same.

Okay, I rang Mintex. Jase is right. MDB1890 is only part of the product number and indicates the pad shape. There should be the M number after it which indicates the pad material. The az motors ones are MDB1891M5735 so a different material to 1144. I'll give em a try though - you never know!

Have just ordered some of these pads, do not really give a monkeys what number or batch code etc. Has anyone got any horror stories, did they stop the car and/or have they worn out in a week? If not then almost half price of most alternatives cant see why not. If crap back to Greenstuffs?

Put them in and cannot tell you that they feel any better worse than EBC greenstuff. At £18 for front set as opposed to £39. looks like a bargain :D

jakepeg I recently changed from greenstuff to mintex. Mintex much better, first application on green stuff was a bit scary on a couple occasions when I had to brake a bit quick. Mintex better on the track to, less effort on the pedal.

Not really glowing praise though is it ! :P

1144s are only £100 a set which isn't much when you consider how long brake pads last and why you need them !
