It would seem, from personal experience, that the "specialist dealers" assigned to our cars are to say the least very poor in their knowledge of them. The majority of posts seem to endorse this. The dealers I have had the misfortune to attend will not get any repeat business. Service departments appear to have a singularly lack of comprehension as to the basics of the car's dynamics. The ""courtesy cars"" - corsas and Zafira have been particularly appalling. Will never buy another Vauxhall - even though daughter has just passed test in a Corsa! I am at least thankful that I am (just) out of warranty, even though a few problems have been solved in the last couple of months -- without VX dealer help - it has taken 12 months of explaining what exactly is the problem for them to understand (!) Can now go to a local specialist for services and attention. thumbsup This is a bit of a rant but if you buy a specialist car you should at least expect specislist service...............?? Maybe should have taken VX to Lotus service station....... :o

thumbsup agree in principal..but if i can add (if you don't mind) specialist's sell specialist car's, true!..normally..but we're in the same league/pool as the corsa, vectra and people carrier's  can't really and truthfully expect any more than we get really..i'v never owned a 'badged' car but if i did i'm damned sure i wouldn't put-up with what i do now

At the end of the day we have bought a great car, BUT Vauxhall are crap at the aftersales bit & servicing to the standard that we expect  We should demand more from them as we are people that appreciate a good "debadged car" for it's merrits & why should we settle 4 2nd best just cos Vauxhall are cr** @ everything else & don't hold the "badged" respect rant Feel a little better now

From my personal opinion, technicians at VX approved dealers rarely see the cars - here, we have 50 corsas/zafiras/astras a day - we see 1/2 VX's a month - spread that over the 15 technicians we have - they see on average a year 1.6 VX's each - and even then its probably a first years service........ If its such a specialist car, it should have a specialist repairs center.......... but VX are not going to do that, and the owners are not going to travel to one place in the country to have the repair done? just my 2p

Fair enough Willow, but my former employer only had 2 technicians that worked on VX's.The more senior of the 2 probably spent 50% of his time working on the model & fair play he knows his stuff now.As a few other people on this site who know where I'm talking about can testify.

Amen to that, just spent about 20mins talking, on the phone, to Paul (the VX mechanic) about problems I'm experiencing with the turbot and it's now booked in next week with a courtesy car for the duration

I'm 100% confident that the car will come back in a considerably better state than it left me

Id have to say that it would probably also depend on what group you went to - I know the company i work for (remain nameless  ) put greater emphasis on efficiency and turnover then 'customer care' Basically coming from what Shiny says, if one of our techs spent 20 minutes on the phone to a customer the powers that be would give them a kicking haha! - its changed lots since john got here - he knows his stuff and hes a good manager, lets just hope that he doesnt fall victim to the H****ells  Curse of good managers pushed out becuase of conflicts in priorities
