John that sounds good.I hate to upset anyone but.........the VSE is a back box only, is proven to add NO extra power and is made some mild steel so will rot, why on earth would you want to put it on your car? Yes it sounds good but IMO thats not a good enough reason. I'm sure Vauxhall will shout at me for this but it has to be said, sorry.
Obviously I'd recommend the Milltek (which is the same price, gives a better throttle response (backbox only, full system proven to give 10-12 bhp) is lighter, made from full stainless steel not mild steel and has a lifetime guarrantee AND sounds fantastic.
I could work out a group buy on them is anyone was interested?

The reason i am after a vse is that for insurance puposes, it can be classified as a factory fit option, which it would seem loads the premium less than stating a sports exaust. I've also experienced the VSE on a couple of occations, whereas i've not heard the miltek. I'm open to suggegtions really, if everyone would rather go fro a group buy on Millteks then i'm ball.
Lets see what you can can both come back with and take it from there, thanks to both of you for looking into it.

cheers
James

"work mode on"
May be a good idea to start the list again and add which VX you have so it's easier to manage.

As much of a fan of the VSE as I am, I have to agree that it's not the best buy as there's no cat section to upgrade to later and the mild steel will not last as long as stainless. However, the main reason to get a VSE is that it sounds fantastic, so if you like the sound (and I know a lot do, including myself) then you should buy the Janspeed instead. Janspeed make the VSE but if you buy it from Janspeed then it comes in stainless steel. Janspeed also do a cat section too so you will have wins on performance (if you choose to get the cat section later) and durability.I hate to upset anyone but.........the VSE is a back box only, is proven to add NO extra power and is made some mild steel so will rot, why on earth would you want to put it on your car? Yes it sounds good but IMO thats not a good enough reason.
Also consider Piper who have clearly ripped off the KomoTec exhaust but it looks (to my untrained eye) to be a slightly better design than the Janspeed/VSE whilst still providing most of the noise. Piper also do a cat section AND i think they do a manifold? Or was that Janspeed?
If I was to buy again I'd be choosing between the Piper and the Miltek and then probably choosing the Piper because it offers the sort of sound I want.

I will admit that I bought the VSE for this reason tooI just need a more beefy sound - as im such a chav
- so whatever is best in that sense suits me

Indeed, my post wasn't meant as a dig though. It's good to see members sorting out these group buys!If we can get hold of Janspeed, Piper, Milltek or whoever, and they offer the best deal, then thats all good with me
- at the end of the day if everyone decides on one or the other there will be more incentive for suppliers to offer a better price........

From the >Piper Website< (I don't know if those prices include VAT or not):
From the >Janspeed Website<:S/STEEL SYSTEM, £335, VX220 2.2, BACKBOX
S/S PERF CAT, £474, VX220 2.2, PERFORMANCE CAT (200 CPSI)
S/S CAT BYPASS, £271, VX220 2.2, CAT BYPASS PIPE - WITH BOX
S/S CAT BYPASS, £271, VX220 2.2, CAT BYPASS PIPE - WITHOUT BOX
I can't find the bit on exhaust manifolds, but I'm sure that wasn't high on the wishlist at the moment.BACKBOX STAINLESS STEEL VAUXHALL VX220 £374.99 (£319.14)
PERFORMANCE CAT STAINLESS STEEL VAUXHALL VX220 £279.98 (£238.28)
