called me old fashioned, but i prefer these:

might be an idea for people to replace the crappy clips with jubilee clips, i assume the only reason that they're fitted to cars is due to cheapness... they're fcuking sh1t! :beat:

Could you tell me where you got yours from, yes I know I can get it from a VX dealer but I'd prefer mail order if possible.

Just ring up your dealer and tell them you want a coolant expansion tank/header tank.

Replaced mine about 3 weeks ago for about £17. The coolant used to need topping upi every 2 or 3 weeks, seems OK now thumbsup

  Well today, I fitted my gearbox breather pipe & filter, ready for the National meet & Tracking around Snetterton, And thought I'd take a long drive rallly Coolant temp was between 84-92 O'c not too bad then saw the coolant warning light (I had mentioned this to Drive Bristol about 4wks ago when it was in but they found nothing), pulled in to next services only to find a lack of coolant & minute bubbles on the top by the return pipe, looks like mine gone :o - replacement time. Q - Are these being replaced under warranty? (03 Vxt) Q - no solution from Vauxhall ? (I've sen the UV covers on ebay) cheers Ben.

A - They have been replaced under warranty but yours has probably run out now, IIRC the tanks are only about £25 from vauxhall and are easy to change so I'd consider doing it yourself, I think somebody posted a guide on how to change them.

A - The only solution is to change the tank to a metal one which can be purchased but not from vauxhall and ofcourse Elaine's covers thumbsup ;) . Alternatively just replace them every couple of years, a fairly consumable item at that price and quite reasonable thumbsup

My header tank started leaking at the weekend from the top hose. Ordered a new header tank from Vauxhall yesterday which they got in today from the factory. £17 +VAT. Took about 15/20 mins to fit this evening following the instructions earlier in this thread. Thanks for the tips! thumbsup

How come none of you guys have fitted a cover to protect the tank from the sunlight?
Only a tenner to buy and looks easy to fit. Prevention rather than cure

30 mins later and I'm patting myself on the back..! Simple job, even for a novice like me!

1: Remove top pipe (squeeze pipe clamp with pliers and slide off).
2: Unclip mounting bracket paperclip thing (small flat head screwdriver and prise off)
3: Remove sensor underneth (simple pulling and twisting)
4: Get some mole grips on the bottom, large pipe clamp and squeeze it open enouth to get the pipe off. (leave molegrips in place ready for filtting the new bottle.!)
5: Quickly remove bottle and stick it in a clean bucket/bowl to catch the antifreeze mix.
6: Fit new bottle in reverse to above.
7: Fill bottle with original antifreeze mix from the bucket/bowl. Top up if needed.
8: Quickly rinse off any spilt antifreeze with water.

Job done.!

James.
