This journey to work!
cough sneeze splutter , right in your face. grubby clothes at the end of the day.
what you need is one of those hazardous substance handling suits.
edit, actually its less than 10 miles cycle ride to waterloo
What good is that Steve, you work in Kingston?

I had an HSR, great car! And had a mate with a 2.6 HS, which has to be one of the fastest cars I've ever sat in/driven! And the most fun, very chuckable.
I would so love one of those!* Dad's mate had an HS when they were new & a short trip out in it made a big impression on me.
*If I had the space for more toys that is.

That sounds all too painfully familiar !! They don't seem to have to abide by the same rules for fecking claiming expenses either !Babysitting a consultant on how to do his job while he's sitting there getting paid 4 times (literally) the amount I am.
What's worst of all is the fact he's meant to be here to ease my work load because I'm so busy, yet in fact he's causing me more work.
Why can they claim for so many bloody meals, they wouldn't eat if they were at home ?!!!

80% lsd, twin 48 dellorto's barking away under the plastic bonnet
I wanted to get the Irish tarmac body kit, but felt I'd never be able to afford the wheels and tyres to fill the arches
I think you needed 11" wide rears !

I learned to drive in the old mans 2300 S (some sort of limited edition FE Victor)I learnt to drive (well maybe...some people might disagree) in my Dad's metalic green VX4/90 (although I passed my test in my own car, a Chevette - I had to swap the engine twice while learning, those 1256's didn't like abuse ), 2.3 slant four, twin strombergs, overdrive box, pretty well spec'd at the time. Folklore has it that the engine was half of an ill fated small block V8, not sure how true that was but when they were going well (in good tune) they went really well. As a 17 year old being let loose in a car like that gave me a few lessons in car control that modern FWD motors can't touch, drifting the VX around (when the Chevette was out of action) I learnt proper throttle balance and a healthy respect for the road / weather, happy days
The FE floorpan was the same as the Commodores that were so successful in the DTM equivalent back then.
I got into motor sport watching the likes of Gerry Marshall driving Viva's and Firenza's, whop the arses of the competition.
One of the things that got me interested was the Viva's were often much nearer to standard than most of the competition.
Did you notice in the recent Top Gear 50 years of the BTCC, Vauxhall barely got a mention or the Astra Coupe, that is the most successful BTCC car of all time, funny that!
How many that bash the Vauxhall marque know anything of it's early history and some of the great sports cars they produced before GM took over.
A Vauxhall sports car won the first RAC reliability trial, now known as the RAC rally of GB, I think a RR Silver Spur was second!
The Vauxhall A type was recognised as one of the finest 3 litre sports cars of it's day.

using a torque wrench for anything other than HCB's and head bolts means you need to hand your man card in FFS.
Todays mammary irritant..... 59 Skoda Octavia tdi's, hateful nasty horrible piece of sh**. Everything "works" but thats it, no feeling, no character, no soul. On the mild plus side I kicked its head in on the way to work and got 53mpg

Its not just the dash... the ride is woeful compared to our lovely squidgy Passat (that still holds its own well for a barge in the lanes), , Its epicly noisy inside and the seats are horrifcly uncomfortable. Skoda suck balls and are kept at the bottom of the VAG pile to make the rest look even better

Driving on the motorway
259
Joining the motorway. When you join the motorway you will normally approach it from a road on the left (a slip road) or from an adjoining motorway. You should
* give priority to traffic already on the motorway
* check the traffic on the motorway and match your speed to fit safely into the traffic flow in the left-hand lane
