The fact that everything seems to have fcuked up with my house. Getting towards the end of it now after spending most of the year doing it up. My flooring is getting fitted on thurs, so last night i pulled up all of my carpet, only to find a damp patch in the slab. Looks like the d.p.m. has been broken, so now i.m going to have to break up the slab and try and repair the dpm, bit of a messy job. Looks like i might have to cancel the flooring now, my furniture is getting delivered not long after the flooring is being fitted as well though so its all gone a bit pete tong :(

Yeah could really do without it, thought you'd understand my troubles Ant :)
As a second opinion, would you say that this is the only way to go about it? Dont really want to break the slab up, but if i just put another dpm on top of the slab i imagine the damp would just spread

The state of todays motor spares. Been working all day trying to free up the master brake cylinder on my dumper  Stripped out the cylinder, needed a new piston seal, went to my local motor factors. 'sorry sir, we only supply rebuilt cylinders' So in order to get a pesky rubber seal I have to throw out my servisable body, and fork out lots of dosh for a complete master cylinder.. where's the Fcuking logic in that  Why does this always happen at 16:40 on a Saturday ?

Right I think I have had it with things in general at the moment - so please appreciate that this could turn into a rant :9mm: rant very quickly, and I reckon it might go on for a while: firstly: House Buying.......... and the fcuking wankers that own houses that find it amusing to string people along..... Im pretty sure most of you know the situation with the business and our mountain house in slovakia, well, I was out there all last week, with the intention of finalising the details to be the owner and ready to rock and roll for the business. We have magazine coverage in Snowboard & Ski mags sorted for this season, we have a retailer in the UK signed up to sell our packages, and all that had to happen was the house signature....... ok picture the scene - I fly out with easyjet on sunday, spend 3 days at the house arranging surveys, writing up contracts and being ready to go, I pay all the bills that i need and I sit back with a beer thinking, job done............... Wednesday comes, I get a phone call from my translator - "ive had a phone call from the owner, she decided last night that she no longer wants to sell" now to say that I was fcuking angry is an understatement, and to say that I really did for the first time in my life really want to go back to the house and give her a kicking - I thought that this would ruin my chances of permanent residency no good at all - so i bit my lip - drank some beer and got on with things....... I had then 2 days to find a house like this which has taken us up to this point 2 months. I cannot believe that things like this can happen, we had a precontract with the owner, but our lawyers have said that there is no point persuing it as the outcome will be less then the time spent fighting it, and the best thing for us to do would be to find another place to set up.................. Anyway, to cut a long rant into a short chinky chinky - The very next day we found a property that is twice the size, even more attractive to look at, much better in terms of the business, and only slightly more expensive - so in fairness every cloud as a silver lining on this occasion..........And I have been granted permanent residency and a ID card :) - but I am now 2 months behind and have to go back again on Sunday for another 3 days - all to the delight of my current job - which brings me onto my second rant Ive been helping customers get there problems sorted for a change, (crazy for a vauxhall dealer hey) - and it would seem that the bosses do not like this. Ive gone out of my way to make sure people get the info that they need, to get the parts that they want quickly, to actually get work through warranty which is clearly warranty - so what do they do? - they call me up to say that this isnt the way it should be working and that Im spending too much time on other peoples problems and not getting on with my own - :9mm: :9mm: :9mm: i give up, needless to say my letter is about to be printed off and submitted and to say bye bye to a dealership :saw: :tt: sorry about the whinging......to be fair if you got down this far you are probably feeling quite good about yourself.

:) ..been waiting to hear the news. Must admit willow, i skipped down the page just to check if there was a happy ending because i felt so sorry for you (knowing all the hard work you've put into this venture) So sorry to hear of your woes but her loss has quite clearly been your gain. OK it's put you back afew months but in the grand-scale of things (hopefully) you've got years! ahead of you, at a far bigger/better place, which hopefully will translate into a bigger/better income too. Same for vxl. Stuff-um, i know from personal experience how good you are at your job (again, their loss is your gain) keep-up the good work mate and don't let the buggers drag you down. I'm so glad (no, really! i am) it's all coming together for you (and you're other-half of course). Any drumming-up of work i can put your way i will (i'v posted a link to your web-site in another forum discussing ski/boarding already) and i know family members who like the snow thumbsup

looks like willow's beaten me to it. but i'd like to nominate people selling houses and estate agents to be taken out and shot through the face ie. bullet enters through the rear of the skull thereby blowing the face out and spreading the cerebrum across the nearest wall. :9mm: been trying to buy a house for about a month (  ) plus. got fed loads of lines like "the vendor really wants to move on this", "he's open to a big offer under the price if you're ready to go" etc etc. so i've been breaking my back working my nuts off at work (12/ 13 hour days) whilst trying to sort out a mortgage and obviously hold down my relationship with the awesome laydee i've found myself thumbsup . just got the valuation back and it's £2000 under my offer (which i only went to as i was trying to keep things moving unlike the vendor :9mm: :saw: :flame: etc). been in contact with my solicitor and had a chat about the fact that the lender won't lend unless the guy does £2000 of FAIRLY SERIOUS work to the place. solicitor gets on to the estate agent and suggests that they might want to suggest the vendor does the work/ drops the price. estate agent says that that is unlikely to happen, knowing what the vendor is like, i'd reckon that's the case. in the meantime, my wonderful ( Imnotworthy ) bird has been to see another place that i might be able to afford thumbsup so hopefully i'll have no extra arrangement/ solicitors fees to pay, just another valuation fee, should i go for the other house :jump: . at the very least i can play the two off against each other! ;) moral of the story is- estate agents/ p1sstaking vendors should be burnt :flame: at the stake. c0ckg0bblers.

Dentists (sorry keith) Missed an appointment last week, first i knew of it was the bill through the letterbox for non attendance....whilst Im cast iron 100% certain that the receptionist agreed to send me a reminder a week before the appointment Turn up today, new dentist.... Sat down to endure another bloody mapping cos he obviously couldnt be arsed to read the previous dentists records.... Then after that, he glibly announces 'you have gum disease.....this is caused by the fact that you smoke ten cigarettes a day. Ever though of quitting smoking?' Me: Heh? wtf are you on about? If you read my notes I havent seen a hygenist for a year...hardly surprising I got a we bit of tartar around my gums (and I mean a wee bit, i really try to take care of my teeth) Him: No its caused by you smoking Me: Ah well, if you say so...i'll just book an appointment with the hygenist on the way out shall i? Him: Yes that would be ok. fcuking muppet. ive really no idea how a fresh faced graduate can ACTUALLY believe anybody under the age of twelve would have fallen for that, let alone acted upon it And speedyK, Im more than aware that smoking doesnt help with gum disease.....I just feel brushing your teeth might be more important than stopping smoking ;) What a sanctimonious arsehole
