Recruitment consultants.

Young, hapless fucktards. Trying to tell me what I know and don't know. Trying to sell me into jobs they think I am suitable for. You don't know me. You are sh*t.

This is one of my biggest hates. How does some kid that reads a load of tick box questions have any idea about a persons ability to fulfil a role that requires more than just the skill to fill out a form. I've seen a number of students with masters come and work in the company I work in via 'recruitment' and not have the first idea what they are doing yet on paper they appear great. Once employed and put on case work they just have no common sense. I blame the government, teachers and parents. Too many people go to university and come out with little to no real understanding of what the job they have spent a considerable amount of money being educated in is and only did it because they liked the sound of it. And don't get me started on the women that come out of uni, start a job and within the first year get pregnant with no intention of working or paying back any form of their student loan. Or in fact the people whose attitude is that they won't every pay it back. Uni places should be offered on a sponsorship basis from companies, with a view to employment at the end of the course. That way there is a vested interest in what the person is doing, and the fact that this company will require results followed by a term of employment (almost like a term of service in one of the forces) of 3 years after qualifying should make people think about what they are going to study and not just go as a result of seeing something on tv. They would also end up with some actual experience and ability.

*I understand this is not true of all professions and that education is vital. It was not my intention to offend anyone but my experience of a few has tainted my opinion of some.

i actually went in to see a recruitment company in Canary Wharf as I thought whilst looking for something permanent I can do something temporary. This chinless wonder I spoke to said well we don't have much for you. I asked why, you can see I can do most things and have 10 years experience. I am not after 100k just something to do and get my teeth stuck into. I don't care really what it is, hell I will answer telephones if it secures my sanity. You would get bored sir was the answer. I mean what? Who gives a sh*t. You get your commission. I guess in hindsight me telling him I could do his job whilst having a sh*t didn't help but hey ho......the saga continues.

I am glad that you put that final strap line in, as from a personal point of view I disagree with most of your highlighted comments.

The part about women getting pregnant I particularly disagree with... Most will return to work after pregnancy, and will continue paying their student loan back. As an alternative they could stay out of work, sit on the dole and then get pregnant and live off the system in sink-estates giving their children no hope.

EDIT: Plus trying to get companies to sponsor students through degrees - not a chance in hell. Trying to convince many employers to take on an apprentice, who get paid below the 'normal' minimum wage, let alone sponsor someone who they actually get nothing for for three years is simply not going to happen - IMHO.

It wasn't my intention to anger anyone, just using here to vent off the back of the other comment some of the things that have angered me recently. The one about women in particular was based upon experiences in my work place and with friends wives. Not meant in general. And in hindsight, once you have children it is less practical to then go off and get you qualifications, I'd rather spend the money on their education at that stage.

The sponsorship thing has happened with local businesses a couple of time with great success. A quantity surveyors company in particular, supported a young man through his degree with the stipulation he continue to work for them afterwards. The male in question enquired and organised this himself and I thought it was a brilliant way of ensuring a job at the end of the degree. I understand this isn't practical in all careers. In fact my partner knew the career she wanted, looked around local companies, found one looking for a work based placement training as a dental technician and then a hygienist with a view to working at the practice upon completion. Once she completed the course, not only was she qualified but she had the experience that is somewhat missing in a lot of other applicants that apply for the same roles.

The previous bit was said in anger, and words said in anger tend to carry little weight/reasoning, a few will had briefly tainted my attitude towards the majority.

I can remember the first time I did about 30-40hours overtime one week when I was an apprentice, rubbing my wee naive hands and the thought of about 70hours extra wages.

That was the last time I did that...

The stupid cost of car dyno operators - £300 for a plug in map and a run on the dyno - WTF are they thinking? I just had my bike setup on a dyno and it took 6 hours. Total cost including new jets in the carbs, about 25 dyno runs, carb jets replaced 4/5 times, an £80 air filter, and 2 cups of tea was.... £225 inc vat for basically the whole day on the dyno. On that basis a basic car remap should be about £50 not £300!!!

Actually it was the speed camera they tried to warn you of

Its a classic for me on my way home from Southport every weekend. Looks dead busy with long cues on the 60/50 limit but when you look ahead one car is doing 35/40 all the bloody way to St Helens clear roads for miles infront
