Telling a prospective employer up front exactly what package you need to make the move, going through 5 interviews, being told they really want you but getting an offer of less than the required amount. Baffling waste of time.

What a load of shite that is.  5 interviews baffles belief.  No company needs to do that really.   Sorry to hear that Alex.
Before I took the job I'm in 3yrs back I had to go on a course to get me back in to work, obviously quicker than the folk who have been long term unemployed.  And the guy taking the course was giving examples of businesses & how they deal with rejected applicants.  Coka Cola apparently invite all rejected applicants back for a 2hr induction on why they were rejected?  Would anyone waste there time, like rejections not bad enough, you go to be told your sh!t & there's better out there, in there opinion. Glad I don't like Coke.
Thats where you and i are different. People don't like to be told they are doing things wrong. I'm the kind of person who wants to know what they thought was wrong so that I could "fix" it for future interviews. No point going through a ton of interviews with companies all dismissing you for the same reason.
Just to say this all worked out well - in fact better than I could imagine.   On the same day Company 1 made the low offer I got asked to interview at Company 2.  Company 1 heard this through my recruiter and offered the full amount, but I wanted to go through the process with Company 2.   They liked me so much at Company 2 they cut the process down to three days and last night made an exceptional offer.   Ironically (is it?) if Company 1 had made the full offer straight off I would have taken it.  Likewise if they hadn't gone through such a long interview process they would have offered sooner.  So thank you Company 1!
Great news. Im so so happy for you. You deserve it. All the best!!

Companies that don't get back to you after interview. I don't mind if I've not got the job, but it's rude to ignore my emails and wait for me to go away  :glare: .

I am really pleased for every success in the job market. But unfortunately I feel I've been misunderstood! I like feedback so things can be corrected & the same mistakes aren't made, my point was, it doesn't take 2hrs for you to be told your faults, If it does & then you go away apply for the next vacancy you think suitable & then find you're not suitable, where do you go then, a psychiatrist?  Too easy to judge people on a few comments, so I'd like to apologise if it came over incorrectly.

I do think they have the right idea with winter. Instead we burn stuff our poky little homes for 5 months of the year to keep it mildly warm.

Two lads I worked with late 70s "migrated" to Australia and I often think I should have gone with them. I go out in the dark morning and scrape ice off the car, he opens his patio doors and jumps in his pool for a swim before eating breakfast the sun. We are daft and the geese are not

It was horrendous today. Hated every moment of my drive to High Wycombe.
