I think most fibre broadband is fibre to the cabinet and copper / existing connection from there to your house.

That is what I thought, but Mel was adament that the BT woman said the issues would be solved by a move to fibre as the cabling would be improved.

But did she mean cabling to the cabinet?

Putting fibre to all houses would mean quite a lot of digging up. They may be able to pull some through, but I suspect it would be more digging than not.

Very few have fibre into the house, most are to a local cabinet or a node several miles from the house then on the old copper.

That was my initial thought, but Mel was adament. No digging up for us... We have the telegraph pole for the first 10houses on our street on the corner of our garden - all old fashioned 'hung' conections.

I went on BT infinity fibre for a while but they still used the old copper to the house.

Ikea light fittings / lampshades... Why the funk don't they seem to stock the adaptors anymore?

Bought two bastard lamp shades and had to suspend them from the pendant with pieces of cardboard until I can buy some. Clearly some cheeky twats knew what was coming and bought a load, as you can get them on ebay for 6 times the original price!

Grrrr

you can pay for the fibre to the door... its fcuking expensive though.... and then to get the most of it you might as well fibre the house

Sky and BT. I ordered fibre broadband on 5th December. Was told it would be two weeks. Then after two weeks got a message saying it would be the 5th of Jan. Nothing. Spoke to sky yesterday and they said they have to speak to BT and would call me this morning. No call. So I've just called them and they just said it shows something wrong with the routing, BT will update sky on the 9th.

How difficult is it to switch me to Fibre? 5 weeks + difficult? Cuntpuffins

if you have fibre available to you, your actually already using it. You just have a speed cap on your "port" that they need to lift. It is also done remotely so no faffing needed. Don't mean to wind you up further but its a 5 min job on the PC and someone does not know what they are doing.

AFAIK, the cabinet has only just had fibre to the cabinet from the exchange. The BT Openreach engineer has to switch my connection over in the cabinet. Then the bods at BT / Sky will 'enable' my fibre broadband.

chances are when they did fibre from the exchange to the green box (should be a new green box) they switched everyone all over and discontinued using the old sh*t. Why pay for the upkeep to two lines? considering Fibre is cheaper for them to run also, higher initial outlay mind

Gross bastard incompetence, anything in particular ? Mine is BT and then EE in a simple swap  that's not very simple as it happens. Fecking tossers. Don't bother ever swapping anything it's not worth the hassle.

Shitty  16hrs...

1. eBay > Some toe-rag on ebay is trying it on about the Technics Amp I sold, and it appears eBay only support buyers, not sellers

2. Myself > spilt a cafetiere of coffee all over the kitchen at work this morning - had to clean out the cupboards and drawers that filled with the stuff

3. Family > Can't make themselves free to come and see us and the little'un when they are free, but instead request when  we are going to go and see them as they haven't seen us in ages, before they go away for the week. Then when you ask them when they are free, they only have 'daytime on Sunday, as we are busy with other family members during the rest of the weekend'...

Idiots.  why are there so many of them?

Also, people who stay in situations because they are too scared to leave them even though they are not happy.

Pussys.

I picked up my new road bike and went for first ride yesterday. Got to the first hill and fell off into a ditch as I misjudged the down change and lack of practise with clip in pedals.
