Being made out to be an awful person because i'm a young, working class white man. Apparently everyone in the world is hard done by apart from this demographic.
I went to the cinema the other day and there was a 5 minute advert starring some very high profile celebrities campaigning against domestic abuse (fair enough) but it was exclusively for abuse against women as if men couldn't possibly be subject to domestic abuse... My sister even said it was ridiculous. It's all come about because of Harvey Weinstein, his abuse of power is awful and they should throw the book at him but it's hardly relevant to the vast majority of men is it, well certainly not in my circle!
Then there's the recent click-bait, argument inducing drivel the BBC have been posting on their social media pages. One of the most recent stories was about a young girl that had been called "honey" in a patronising manor, okay it's rude but it's not BBC newsworthy and we don't need to have a "movement" because of it. Likewise the H&M hoodie gate, yes in hindsight it was probably a bit of a cock up to put a young black boy in a hoodie that says "little monkey" but it shouldn't even be a thing, I would never look at that image and put the 2 together, I always call my niece a little monkey and I would if she was black, that's just what you call kids when they're being mischievous!
Same with the Lewis Hamilton thing, i'm a massive fan of his for the incredible talent he has when driving a car. I don't really care what he does out of Formula 1 but I think he's a very good ambassador for the sport and the UK as a whole yet people love to beat him given the slightest chance, he had a huge social media following, thousands of posts that were genuine messages of thanks to fans and also a huge amount of charity work not to mention some great sporting moments that will go down in history. All of it deleted because he told a family member "boys don't wear dresses" in jest in his own home. It's a fcuking joke and a crying shame that we let these sad trolls ruin things for the sensible, level headed people in the world. I bet the trans / cross dressing community weren't offended as they would know it wasn't said in a derogatory manor and it wasn't supposed to cause offence.
I'm sick of feeling like we're treading on egg shells the whole time, we all have an opinion and you're never going to please everyone, I just wish people could make their own choices and be secure enough to not be offended by the most minor comments. I know i'm contradicting myself when I say this but the constant feeling that white men are all monsters out raping co workers and shouting racist abuse at strangers and LGBT has gone far enough.
