I was wondering if the forum could help... I'm interested in getting a VX (otherwise I wouldn't be here would I? :P ) but some of the interior of it is pretty substandard when compared to an Elise. I know they're supposed to be spartan and I have no problem with that its just they seem REALLY cheap compared to its nearest brother/rival. Has anyone 'modded' theirs to make it seem less cardboard-y/plastic and bit more polished similar to an Elise? I'm not looking for Bentley levels of comfort, in fact its only those horrible side things next to your leg (not sure what they're called) which are flimsy and horrible, which i don't like. Thoughts? Oh and anyone got one available for about £14,000? :D John

Lots of options - you can get the dash covered in alcantara by Frogman and Tadpole (have a search), leather covered centre console, leather or alcantara or carbon door cards, carbon fibre dash panel

Alcantara looks sweet but i quite like the leather/plastic/metal because it's wipeable. How dull is that :) Ben

Wipeable yes, thats all good. My mum did a brilliant job of cleaning out the interior when I took the car home to show her it! Seems all you need is a mother who likes to show you "how clean things can be if you just use the right stuff" and some clear instructions not to polish the dashboard! Toothbrush to clean the metal floor slats in front of the seats was a genius touch. :gayfight: I like the stripped out look of the VX, seems to go with the overall style of the car, uncompromising!

The dash and all is really fine, as are the foot wells (if you can call them that!)...its the side boards which really vex me - are there any alternatives people have tried which are more sturdy (like leather or anything which isn't horribly flimsy) and not like something made in a GCSE technology class? Doorcards? VXT ones are leather, maybe you could get some from a scrappy ?

It's the dash that bugs me, will be making a trip to Frogman & Tadpole over the winter I think for some of their retrim magic :D

I think the interior is pretty good on the VXT, by the way, is the leather covered gear surround part of the touring pack?

Pretty sure it's standard on the turbo...NA gets an aluminium one that scratches to buggery :(

Touring pack is the door sill storage pockets, the luggage net behind the seats and extra soundproofing IIRC.

Must agree with Jaceyboy, the look of the VX would be spoilt if it was anything more than Aluminium and plastic!! I love the intererior, perhaps a bit more carbon trick stuff would'nt go amiss though!! B)

there was a thread on here a while back - someone had made some pads that went on top of the pastic sill covers to stop the 'vx knee' problem. Is it because they are uncomfortable that you dont like them or is it just the look. If you are taking it to be trimmed in alcantara or whatever then you could see if they can do anything with the plastic sill covers

I have had my seats re-trimmed by Frogman and Tadpole in Carbon Firbe effect leather and silver grey alcantara. The triangular door block re-trimmed in silver grey alcantara. Also the dash, door cards and gear shift housing changed from dull silver plastic to Carbon Fibre. Now all I need is to pick up the VX220 tax disc holder from Thorney as my Motorpoint one takes up half the windscreen. The C/F stuff you can pick up from the shop on this website, for the seats send Frogman and Tadpole a PM.

So now your flimsy plastic side door things are carbon fibre (or carbon fibre effect)? How much was that if you don't mind me asking?

John

Here you go, don't know how much it cost as it was done when I bought it, but I think it looks sooooooo much better and it means the sills are padded! It's like driving a padded cell! :P
