The cable is probably skewed left-right in the yoke. Give it a really good yank.

JG your car is the cleanest I've seen! Amazed!!

Question..... What products would you recommend to totally clean mine to a super standard...? I always used Autoglym EGP and Victoria Wax on my VXR with it's deep red finish and that would come up lovely but with mine being such a weird yellow I was wondering if you knew of a wax that would suit me better...?

JJJ just to reiterate some of James's comments, good shine comes from preparation work on the paint rather than wax/sealant. You'd be better off splashing some money on a good polish rather than loads on a wax.

I know you had Matt do your brother's RS4 a couple of years ago. There's a guy in Newport, James @ ti22 that I would definitely recommend also!

James sorry about the thread hijack - as you were!!

Hey Ad, how's things!!/? Yeah Matt did my VXR also and is very good! I'm tempted to get him to my LY but I kind of like the idea of doing it myself. Looking for a cheap dual polisher and just after advice on products really :) Ti22 are very expensive if it's the guys I'm thinking of!!

All good here thanks buddy. Hope fatherhood is treating you well!!

As for the detailing malarkey tread very carefully. It's a road I started down about 18 months ago and my pockets are massively lighter now!! Are you still in Cwmbran? If so I'd be more than happy to meet up and I could talk you through some products etc. I'm also sure if you twisted my arm enough I would detail your car for you!! Here's a couple of links of cars I've done recently!!

James @Ti22 is comparable to Matt actually, more importantly it's James's full-time job and not a serious hobby!

Anyway drop me a PM as I think JG will be stressing out about his project thread becoming 'messy'!!

Sounds ace, (both suggestions ), I was hoping someone who knew what they were on about could show me how it's done!! Also worried about blowing a fortune on all the wrong things!!

The process as I see it (so far)

Foam wash
2 Bucket rinse
Clay
Machine polish the paint (not sure what product, maybe this kit LINK)
Rinse
Dodo Lime Prime
2 coats Harveys wax
1 coat Banana Armour wax
Machine buff the wax

Not really thought about wheels, interior, exhause etc yet.....

Here's the VXR's detail

Pffft! To clean car, wait for rain and aim for the puddles. You'll find a happy equilibrium where it washes off as much as it adds. Your car will never get dirtier.

I covered the vxt in black overspray 18 months ago. Its still there. Definately there is the complete spectrum of people when it comes to detailing.
