And that is proberly what happened with JG. A car was seen in the Layby and drove off as soon as the dog was hit. Nice person eh

Yes, it should do. If you're heartless enough to sue the person who's pet you've just killed.

I must confess I'm not sure whether I would or not

I am fine with people having dogs, but don't want to hear them, step in their crap, or have them run out in front of me on an A-road.

(If JG had been on a motorbike he may well be dead)

Playing devils advocate, what about cyclists? Do horse riders? How about pedestrians?Owners should really take out thrid party liability insurance for exatly these sorts of incidents.
