And do you have any of the press kits from the launch?

No i don't, the other thing i missed out on in 2006 when foxy was selling them was the plastic colour chosing cars. there were a few kits sent to each of the VX220 dealers when they were first apointed. There was an individual plastic shape for each colour. NA only IIRC.

If I remember correctly I bid as high as £300 for those. I believe they went to Germany.

While you are here JG what was the spray to protect the suspension you recommended James?

They were called 'frogs' for some reason, all of the colours in the range were on display in the dealership, but the vx220 colours came in a rather nice box, including the interior trims, I'm sure that I had turbo colours aswell. & to think I just left it in my desk when I left!

If you had bought new wishbones with pre pressed bushes and ball joints and couldn't be arsed to remove them, what would you have protected them with and how? Hand painted with por15?

Regular acf-50 from a rag (ie like a polish) rather than spraying it everywhere because that would be a bit messy and collect grime. By regular I mean twice a year. (I don it rather more, but no real need) I like the finish of a std wishbone

Cheers, would acf50 be enough to protect it, I have no experience of the stuff.

yep, thumbsup. they get a bit grimy again if you use the car (there is a simple solution to that) but because its so good at water repelling it just wipes clean. non coated metal surfaces don't rust (HCBs for example)

phew, just finished reading through this thread. Took me a while.... This is definitely my favorite VX, the attention to detail is unreal! Scary thing is, I'm just as OCD as James when it comes to detail and cleaning. My car's been in storage for the past 4 years, but I'm currently having the plans drawn up for a new garage. Then it starts :) p.s. don't fit the turbo ears!!!

Yes it is certainly one of the best VXs out there. A credit to JG and his hardwork, attention to detail and suffering bank balance! thumbsup

Front clam comes off early feb for some new goodies. Fez heater - Not entirely sure why, since i don't drive it in the winter. However the stuck heater control which seems only to go from 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock has annoyed me enough. Also going to fit a PA rad while i'm there and seal the gap between CC rad and Coolant rad. Its also good practice to regularly remove the clams to ensure the fixings working. it will take no more than a relaxed 30min to take it off thumbsup.

I think this gets overlooked by a lot until you start trying to do the same yourself. It's quite frightening.
