Well if there was any doubt about how bodged our lights are, here is the perfect example.

two replacement side light bulb holders arrived yesterday, and instantly i thought they looked a little on the large side.

I quick comparison reveals all. They are cut down for use in our lights.

from left to right: as it came our of the other lense, the one i cut down, as they come from the manufacturer of the lense:

Winter changes done.

Its all back together ready to be on the road at the end of the month.

Only had the evening to play with it and spent 90% of it lining up the bonnet and getting it to click and release perfectly :D

The turbo look however  makes it look really narrow.

That's because the V is the only feature that's picked out now. I'd go the whole hog and replace it with a black one.

It's a no here for the black lights I'm afraid :( Yours need silver to break it up, either that or full stealth; which I just don't think suits yours edit: of/or? too late lol

That's possibly the cleanest front V I have ever seen! Think Jules is right on the lights though it's hard to say without seeing the rest of the car uncovered. Did you still have the silver screen surround?

Yep, Silver screen surround and silver v are staying just as they are. V looks new because its only ever done 30miles  The front basicly looks like a standard turbo (although only dirty black was available on the turbo)

I like the darker lights. Maybe we need before and after pics to compare - not that's it's really any of our business ;)

But you just saved us the effort :P I think prefer the darker lights, they look a little more modern.

Hang on a sec... About a week ago I said I was splitting my lights and spraying for the tubby look. You said, "Keep them standard NA lights look better." Or words to that affect. lol Have to say in this car I kind of agree with you, I think the second pic you posted is stunning.

Took the interior out today and the rear clam is coming off tomorrow (or later if i can be bothered)

New fuel lines to go in, with aeroquip from tank to rail. new rail fittings and new filter.

And while i'm there i thought this might be a good idea

My original plan was to use a Vxt milltek back box, but that has the same construction as every other straight through system and i want a baffled one

So Ian has kindly ordered me a 2.5in Milltek vxt U-bend which i'm going to fit to a 2.2 Milltek back box. It will retain its smaller internal architecture but a little restriction there is probably no bad thing given how close i am to the rods limit.

I don't think the vxT backbox is a straight through box, the inlet and outlet are not inline

The box is still a lot smaller than the NA box. If enough people sign up to Ian's GB, i'll have one to try it. but even today on idle in think its too loud on a std mani, and full milltek  incidentally how does Mercedes do it? the CLK is silent most of the time and then barks when you want it to, without any silly opening valves on anything like that.

and another question, will the plastic rocker cover withstand the heat of the tullet?

if you bash the standard heatshield with a ball-pein hammer (near the ends) it will fit back over the Tullet, you need to fit the studs back into the cylinder head and then use nuts and washers to hold the heatshield on, also don't bother trying to fit the lower section back on ;)

You may have to drill a new hole (for one of the studs) in the heatshield. The other option is to make a new heatshield :P
