Now that the original fuel pipe system completely removed, i'm now starting the process of installing my own.

The new rail fittings are not quite ready yet, so final bracketing can't be made, but i was also waiting for these

Low profile 90 degree bends with no pressure drop (on the left, compared to the normal aeroquip on the right)

Posted Image

Unfortunately they are twice of the price of already expensive aeroquip fitting, but look at them

I'm spent! X(
Look awesome.

I re-plumbed the charge cooler pipes today to go under the chassis rather than over

The new filter location has been selected (on a bed of cardboard there - to make a template for a carrier for it)
Posted Image

The tank end is particularly tight with the Pro alloy tank, there is a 1mm gap between the fittings and the chassis :D

and i've started running the lines

haven't played with the vx much for a couple of days. but have completed the bracketing and the lines from the tank to the filter on the high pressure side and to a forced juction to get the lines across the bulkhead on the low pressure

The reall challenge is not marking the connectors during assembly (i did have to have a couple of goes )

Looking nice fella. You need to start tidying up the messy chassis bonding :P

The hard bit is now done :D
Posted Image

Its impossible to pass an elbow through the bulkhead, thats why there has to be another connection the other side of it. I went for the right angle on the return since i had the bits for it. but an in line one would be just as good.

brackets will be going black at some point. :)

my master plan with regards to exhausts has failed

Here is a comparison between an NA Milltek U-bend and a Turbo Milltek U-bend. There are some fairly major differences, the first is that the radius of the bend is about half an inch more on the Turbo one, secondly there is a 30 degree rotation to the cat interface plate. This is a problem if you plan on modifying an NA Milltek backbox. :D

So have three options:
1- Use the NA Milltek U-bend and accept there is a major constriction of loss of diameter and a bend at the same time

2- Get a new bend made up which matches the NA one but in 2.5in section

3- Use a Milltek Turbo back box.

This'll be why Neil had one custom made?

Can't you use the turbo one anyway, there are enough axis of adjustment to take up that extra radius, for example if the cat is mounted higher then more radius is taken up when joining to the back box

The plan was to modify the entry to the NA back box and make it a 2.5 using a turbo U-bend. It hasn't quite gone to plan

Fez, there is no way it will fit, not in a million years, and even if by some miracle you managed it, it would be a mighty bodge

In other (better) news, the SC designed ITG airbox and filters arrived today :D

So why not get a tighter U bend made?

yep, thats the plan for now. The heat shield around the back box must be different on a turbo, and if i was going do use a turbo back box i think i'd like to match it with the correct heat shield.

It's of course perfectly obvious now:

The Na entry point is where the bracket mount is on the turbo.

Seeing as youve already bought the turbo one it may be easier to get that one adjusted rather than starting afresh.

I think its going to be easier to go for the turbo back box, but i already know i'm going to find it too loud. :(
