I took my car in for a service yesterday and asked for the rain shield (water ingress kit) to be installed under warranty. However when I came to pick the car up it had not been done I asked why and they said it was not needed on my car. My question is, do all VXTs need the mod or not?

I have a 01 N/A

It’s been out in the rain a few times at work. Is it worth getting those 'getbadass' covers?

I don’t want to experience the dreaded Engine Management light scenario, on a cold December morning!

there is a separate issue with turbos due to the ecu location and the design of the cam cover.

i have the badass cover as i have had my na fcuk up. money well spent thumbsup

to my knowledge, it is a warranty issue, get vxl to do it NOW.

any turbot owners care to add further comment?

i've had SO many problems with water ingress on my vx i will be BUYING a turbo rain cover and having it fitted a well as the badass cover, just to be sure.

on properly designed cars, the problem is avoided with bonnet! :beat:

I asked why and they said it was not needed on my car

to be read as; "we forgot/ couldn't be bothered" ?

Turbo rain cover won't fit on an NA

My dealership tried (i asked them not too) and i have the drill holes and scruffs to prove it won't fit

that doesn't sound like anything I've got under the bonnet. I think a phone call to the dealers is due if this is a warranty job.

yes thats the bad boy - and its not the same on the NA as the parts affected are in a different place and not so exposed

Sorry to be an idiot but should I be worrying about having something similar fitted for my na? Or is it only the turbots that have the problem? Help

Can i be stupid and ask what good the badass cover does ? My cars problem was caused by water getting into the coil pack, which is still unprotected even if you get both badass covers.

Help

The Turbo's have a black rain shield on the bonnet cover, the NA doesn't have one and it can't be fitted on the NA apparently.

The Badass cover covers the electrics at the head and prevent water getting in there.

Don't know about the coil pack, which could also be badly affected by water ingress. Not all NA's suffer problems caused by water ingress so it's not neccessary, but a lot have, so it may be worth getting

....All turbos can be affected..........! ....All turbos can have the FREE installation.......! ....It also helps to stop the engine cover rattling as it does weight a bit more.....!

So there is an official 'bit' for the N/A's that stops water ingress then?
