Right i've had these fitted in my car for ages, took photos and never got around to showing you lot. I might have to sell my car soon, felt sick thinking about it  so thought id write about my front speakers instead :D . I've alway been into my car stereo stuff and with in weeks of picking up the car i upgraded loads of it, but couldnt work out what to do about the front speakers. Vauxhall wanted loads as an option for some cheap and nasty front tweeters with no mids :beat: . Im fussy and just having twweters up font would sound rubbish and drive me bonkers. I've seen people cut them into the top of the dash, into the door cards, pods on the floors, etc, but i didnt want them to be visable or take up any space in the car. I also didnt want to add loads of weight or anyhting. I had a pair of new 4inch pioneer (not great, but do the job) speakers sat at home that i never fitted to an ex girlfriends car. So i thought id use them and came up with this. There are no holes cut or drilled in the car. The plates slide into place and then are held in place with some self screws through holes that are already there from factory. I Dynamated around the bottom and side of the dash to give the speakers a fighting chance as they are not i enclosed. They run off the unused channels of the amp in the headunit. I know the location is not the best for sound as they fire into your feet, but it does bring the sound stage forward, which was the plan. Togehter with my focals behind my head the sound is lifted quite a bit.

They dont get in the way of my feet and you'd never even know they are there. None of my passangers have kicked them or anything.

Some nice work THERE. Do you think it would be possible to use the same method to install 5 1/4 or even 6 1 /2" speakers in the same locations?

Hi, glad you like. Yeah i think you could get 5 1/4 under there, but not 6. 6's would proably go in with a little bit of work. The speakers cant have really big magnets or be really deep or they wont fit. Yep you need some speaker wire to run it from the headunit, really easy job tho.

Looks good, I toyed with the idea of using 10cm components in a newly made up door pannel out of thin MDF to replace the door card but this looks much better. Like the stealth idea... Any chance of you posting some templates maybe? Or measurements? Are you leaving them in the car when you sell it? (fancy selling them?) Cheers, ...

I did copy the templates onto paper. So i'll find a mate with a scanner and get them put up here so other people can do it. I'll write a bit more of a detailed fitting thingy too. I looked at every possible way to fit them and have fully functional front speakers, but there just wasnt a practical way. I was going to put a set of 3's into the drinks cuby hole, but i use that all the time. As for selling the car i will only do it if i have to as i still love poof it to bits, even after all this time.

Looks good, do you reckon its worth doing? I've got some feeds left from the amp wedged behind my pass seat and dont know whether to fit fronts or find an amp for the parcel shelf. Would certainly be interested in a copy of the template That has got to be the simplist and most effective looking front speaker set-up I have seen yet!

It depends what you want. You're not going to get perfectly imaged fronts from it, but it does add a bit up front. You cant put loads of power throught them, the amp you have will be fine. Mine run off my head unit and my amp runs the speakers behind my head.

Been re-reading this today... any joy with the templates? Might just persuade me to go buy a jigsaw and some 4" speakers... I've got spare channels on my Pioneer P77, and would love to 'fill-out' the sound a bit. Cheers thumbsup
