Hi all, Newbie here.

Looks like water in N/A plugs for me too...

going to have words with VXL to see if they'll do anything under warranty

They prob wont be able to do anything.

they should replace the coil pack whcih has better seals.

Just started work on fiiting the ingress kit to the VX. Think I have all modifications spot on ready to fit - was about to start drilling and its started to p*ss down

Was not easy to say the least - but all on now and looking

I know now that I can leave my car in torrential rain over night without a shower cap/car cover in the knowledge that the engine bay is completely dry!

My VX will have no water/damp related problems in the engine bay as ALL electrical components inc the ECU, Throttle Sensor, Coilpacks, Sparks, etc etc are protected from water.

Can you see those rubber/plastic things between the cover and the lid? that I used fro spacers??

Believe it or not they are door stops from B&Q!!!!

I cut them so that they filled the gap between the plate and the lid - I then used long screws to attach.

The other thing you need to do to make it fit differently from the VXT is for the end barrier to be fitted inside the lip - you can see in the pics.

Oh and you may have to reshape/bend the plate where it goes along the top of the engine, as space is very tight between the lid and the engine unlike the VXT. I had to roll out the edges as my Badass cover fouled it so I was unable to close the lid!!!! All sorted in a vice!

Hope this help you guys as I know a few of you have corroded plugs/water soaked coilpacks - or may want to avoid those very problems.

It makes me laugh that VXL say that the 2.2 NA doesnt suffer with water ingress when obviously it does

Shame they couldnt modify the design of the VXT cover for the NA

Well at least there is an option now!

OK, very dumb question. I can see the ingress kit is attached at the right hand side of the boot lid by two screws (presumably you had to drill the boot lid for these). And I can see the rubber spacers that are seperating the left side of the ingress kit from the boot lid. But how is the left hand side of the ingress kit fixed to the boot lid? Obviously it's not attached where the spacers are, because that would involve drilling holes right through the boot lid! Probably missing something obvious... Also, can you remember roughly how much the cover cost from Vauxhall?

About £25 ish. The screws go through the rubber spacers into the lid. Yes I did drill pilot holes into the underside ridges of the lid for the screws to hold it in place. Just make sure you buy the right size screws that wont go all the way through the upper skin of the lid. Have a look under there you'll know what I mean.

I've not really looked, but I'm at work now so I can't Can anyone tell me if the Vxl ingress kit protects a different part of the engine to the Badass kit? I've got the badass one and will fit it, but I see christurbo has added the Vxl one too.. Any help much appreciated!

Is the cover a necessary mod or is water damage an isolated problem?. What about just covering the engine bay with WD40 every so often to at least repel the worst of any water that might seep into the electrics?

When changing my sparks I had corrosion. Also the coilpack is exposed. So the answer is to fit the VXL water ingress kit. Badass cover - protects the ECU and throttle connection. Water Ingress Kit - protects the coilpack and sparks.

Got the ingress kit done under warranty from Saab/Vauxhall City after minimal persuasion for my N/a (bloke said it's not a problem on N/A until I showed him the spark plugs...) Shame they aren't as good with fixing the ongoing alarm problem...

I thought the kit only fitted the turbo?

It can be MADE to fit the NA...............just not by arnold clark who will just drill big holes in your engine cover, scrape your engine and then give up SOmeone on here (cna't mind who) did a how to not long ago.....
