Oh yeah the reason , something to do with type approval, 50 cars had to be registered before customer delivery, car was built & then had a few bits changed & it saved on getting the car re-type approved. 15 cars (but I don't know where this number came from, but remember that it had to be a very small No., can be built & bypass type approval), could be sat around (in showrooms) as VXR's without being registered.
Mine although being No.49 was part of the 15, hence registered March 05.

Ahh it all becomes clear, sort of lol.

Mine was originally owned by the guy that owns Thurlby motors as far as Im aware, and Ive been led to believe it was just a show piece in his showroom/collection for a while so dont quite know if it was in the original 50 or the other 15.

Its an 04 plate and its registered address was Thurlby hall not quite Beckingham palace lol, I think Thurlby were involved with the Vauxhall touring cars at one point.

This is like a family tree lol, nice to know the history of ownership etc.

Really sorry to see another VXR die Hope your alright and its just the car. Will you try to buy it back or is it beyond help ie just for stripping into spares (would love that back box you had)

Rear impact into the central reservation on the M4. So the exhaust probably isn't the shape that it ought to be!! Chassis is bent apparrently, so not repairable really. Everything from the doors forwards would be decent salvage though. The CS Stage 2+ engine is probably fine, and even had it's cambelt service done 2 weeks ago. I'm fine - I was harnessed in good & tight as always. Just minor whiplash that's gone now.
