Maybe its just me, but i relish these conditions.............its great feeling slightly out of control when you give it "big feet" coming round a corner.

I agree.. Its good to slide around.. 'coz when you lose it unexpectedly you know what to do.

But such antics should only be done in empty car parks thumbsup

i have often worried about my 'vans' in the same way. they are an excellent skate shoe, but they are useless when walking from a wet pavement into an interior with a shiny surface/ timber floored/ paved for example. i have come a cropper a number of time due to their low tread depth. i was sold the shoes with no prior warning as for their unsuitability for these surfaces/ useage in the wet. i think it's wreckless to sell a shoe in such a way. do i have claim?

Lucky escape mate. Try these <clicky>

This revolutionary sole is cast from especially formulated rubber. Endow with spongier texture it also offers a bigger traction zone, as well as an unequaled suppleness!

I have personally moved to 4 wheel drive.

Sounds safer but what about the additional energy consumption that this method would incur ?

Was it Diesel or was it Levi??? And would either have contributed to the loss of control? :D Perhaps you should invest in some protective accessories...rubber shin pads or the like. Alternatively, some work to the front crumple zone may be necessary. I understand that prolonged heavy drinking allows development of a large soft bumper area... Men have to be more careful in these situations, unlike women they don't have front airbags ;) JJ

I was thinking of installing some kind of leg movement control system that prevented me from applying too much forward motion when conditions weren't perfect. Perhaps tie my shoelaces together but then this would mean the traction control was on all the time and ideally I'd like a variable system. Of course I appreciate this won't help me if I have already built up a lot of speed and then try and turn but at least it will stop me from trying to take too large steps and thus accelerate out of turn without thinking

Perhaps you should invest in some protective accessories

So what you're saying is that I shouldn't bother trying to learn how to deal with the conditions and instead should wrap myself in protective covers that will hopefully allow me the comfort of mindlessly bouncing around out of control in unsuitable footware ?

I like the way you think thumbsup

You're thinking the wrong way there. Safety systems such as the one you are proposing won't get you out of trouble. Far better to have yourself set up properly so you handle better in all conditions. Lowering your centre of gravity even slightly can make a massive difference to your cornering ability.

I run a 40mm knee bend.

I don't want to have to think about it though, you know how it is... early mornings, cold, late night last night (probably still a bit pissed). Need some kind of automated "I'm rubbish in the mornings so help me out" failover system to bail me out
