My personal opinion would be that my own Phase 3 ITB is far better than a Basic Stage 2 SC, however the cost difference between the two is worlds apart. It costs roughly £7500 to convert a standard NA to a 300bhp SC and that is roughly the same as my ITB Phase 3  So which would I prefer to own; a 300bhp SC or my Phase 3 ITB Throttle bodies everytime

I reckon nearer £6,000 for the Stage 3 SC 300 BHP, £1,500 less and 50 BHP more.

I love the sound of the throttle bodies but it is a labour of love to get them to 240 BHP.

The SC route, stage 2 is £4,200 with exhaust and 250 BHP bang. That saves £3,300 over the same powered ITBs. I wonder why Webber are not selling loads???

Are those prices based on new parts? (Not trying to stir things up, genuinely interested!) I see quite a lot of the S/C conversions are done with second hand bits, whereas the TB's are normally new. Although I guess a large chunk of the cost comes from the exhaust/manifold.

Most of the tb route would be engine work that you simply cannot buy "off the shelf" so to speak.

So which is better, the SC or the ITB?

Interesting reading the ITB claims and comparisons now the SC is a proven bolt on 250BHP on standard Z22SE internals.

im for ITBs just based on sound alone!
No denying though the SC option is better bang for buck.

I have to agree, the ITBs sound like a real car should sound, much better than the SC. In fact I had the ITB conversion on order for over a year before I gave up waiting and fitted the SC.

I must add, I am so pleased I did the SC and not the ITB BTW. I love the power.

SC is more OEM because the LSJ was always the intension rather than the crappy LET. :D I bumped this for information rather than reignite the debate  To be honest i'd be happy with either, its all about the journey to get there rather than the result.

But I missed it first time round and now we all have a degree in hindsight on this subject, it is funny as fcuk reading it now.

"No, no, no, the ITB's will give more power than the SC which will all blow up anyway."

Does the £7,500 include a exhaust aswell? I am seriously considering just getting the ITB kit for my standard N/A then doing the rest over the next couple of years.....
