I thought it was decided that they were universal in the way they could be fitted and it came down to your decision.

Perhaps people could post their intentions / setup ideas here?

Seem to remember that the fitting instructions supplied with mine specifically stated "do not mount in inverted position as per orig equip"

It was well over 2 years ago though so things may have changed

Mine said that when I bought them a few months ago.
Suppose the good thing about having them the reccomended way is that you can turn the adjuster knobs without jacking the car up thumbsup

Let me talk to the wife  Imnotworthy

Nick, be the man :tt: you know you are and tell her you are having them. Add your name to the 7th spot and enjoy your purchase.

I know my wife didn't get a say in the matter, I just stamped my foot, pounded my chest and grunted a lot.......until she was laughing so hard she couldn't argue any more :groupjump:

Well it seems Jase has the rears inverted and it doesn't seem to have affected his car in a bad way.

Someone once told me that my AVO coilovers would leak because they were USD! :D

Like the pressurised gas and oil would leak out if inverted!

For everyones info!-

the result was a bone shaking car which I got bored of.  If I had changed the shocks to a softer ride then I think it would have made all the difference.

And your buying spax with a spring rate of- 250lbs/in front and 350lbs/in rear! Adjustable dampers or not- they are going to be very stiff at best, also if you try to soften them by reducing the damping you can lose control of both bump and rebound of the spring! Standard spring rates are 234lbs/in front and 268lbs/in rear!

Spax are more likely to use progressive damping and linear springs, opposite way round to eibach- this makes damping setup far more critical to good handling, but also gives more adjustment! thumbsup
The SPAX will be bloody stiff!!!! thumbsup :)

I think I should have left the convincing to someone who actually knows what they are talking about. I was only trying to fill the 7th spot. I hope the ride won't be too much stiffer, I find the ride quality very nice at the moment.

 I'd be doing exactly the same in your position mate! thumbsup

I love the standard ride as well, and in real world use (A+B roads in N Wales) im sure its a better setup than the spax, BUT-

1- Lower ride looks oh so B) B) B) thumbsup

2- Nice to have the ability to stiffen them up for track days! thumbsup

3- Should make the car corner much flatter and sharpen up the steering response! thumbsup

It is going to be sooooo stiff though! :P

There's a few regular owners of SPAX equipped cars who I'm sure would disagree with you.

I can't say so from my own experience but as I understand it the ride may be stiffer but not any more 'crashy' than the standard. There is a diference.

No ben has not got it! thumbsdown

I said stiffer!

No mention of crashy! :beat:

Upping the spring rate that much is going to make it stiffer!

Sheesh!

Yeah okay. I assumed that by saying it was going to be stiff, you also meant the ride would suffer by becoming more crashy. I agree - they're two different things.

Thats why im sticking with them and using the eibach lowering springs.

It has transformed el beast.

On the Midlands run - a Tommy M Special edition 360/80 bhp EVO or S2 exige couldn't shake me off! They were really surprised when I told them it wasn't a turbo. I had ho real moments too - and it was wet - its so balanced!

Look at that stance:-

I would go for Nitrons/ maybe Spax for track days but for B work - whats the point?

There again you cant get the Eibach's any more - so I suppose Spax is the only way to go. thumbsup
