I think it's called >Chromatic Aberration< and, as I think the article points out, is just cheap(er) lensesSometimes when there is a bright shiny spot of light in a photo (Like reflection off glass or something) it has a slight blue/purple tint to the edge of it. What causes that? I'm sure there's a name for it? Is it down to lense technology or just my poor use of the camera?!

There is a tool in Potatoshop CS2 that you can play with to try and minimise the effect, but it's pretty much the main reason that I'm looking at an SLR and some tasty glass after my compact Canon. That, and noise.
Edit: Alternatively, if it's a static shot then take multiple exposures and combine in photoshop using the assorted HDR tricks. Shorter exposure shots don't seem to exhibit the same amount of purple fringing around the highlights.

it's not your fault

There are programmes you can use to eliminate it.
If you go and have a browse, or even sign on >here<, then you will find out more m– especially if you ask on the forum section for your camera

Not sure if you can do it with JPEGs or if you need Raw. Not been really troubled by it myself...

Took a few pics in Morrisons car park earlier this week. Reminded me of some of the work I saw in here.

What's wrong with type116 anyhow? It's got talented photographers, very experienced VX owners and some bloody funny people!
