they reprogramme the ecu by upping the boost/fueling, this increases the work the turbo has to do and hence it generates more heat. The reason vauxhall "only" added 20 bhp to the VXR was they have v stringent tests the engine has to pass for longevity.Courtenay Sport (www.courtenaysport.co.uk) Say they can up a standard VX220 turbo to 224bhp with just an ECU upgrade/tune. Now a car being slightly more powerful than the VXR220 (220bhp) so you would assume it would be quicker 0-60mph than the VXR?
How can vauxhall themselves only justify a 20bhp increase of a vxr in comparison to a vxturbo that hasn’t got an uprated hybrid turbo, reprogrammed ecu or free-flow air filter?
Dont forget "224" is peak power - you also have to look at the smoothness of a map thru the rev range. I would expect a stage 1 courtenay map to be better that a std vxr map *

* But not as good as a AMD stage 2 VXR map

yes a Hybrid will, I had one on my Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo and it held boost much better and was a stronger turboDoes the hybrid turbo really make that much difference to the power range or is a remapped VXT very similar with it's power delivery?

gLOL.. I love posts like thatI had one on my Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo
I used to use clothes pegs to hold cards against the spokes of my pushbike when I was a kid. It used to make it go much faster and it sounded like a motorbike too
