It was at the Lada Samara end of the market and there are a few I can think of that had that sort of format. It's not built in Italy but there is a hint of Italian in it.

The funny gearstick angle says Alfetta to me, but you said not built in Italy.

Nope. It's east European. I seem to remember that they had a large number of interior lights for some reason.

No and no The Italian influence means that it is mostly regurgitated Fiat. But then, weren't they all. Another clue. There was a top spec one in the UK which wore some very fetching Weller 8 spokes in white.
