Did the landrover suffer any damage? And did you actually stop and talk to the owner? :poke:

Not that I could see - in fact the owner said she'd had it fitted because someone had driven into the back of her before! It was only the tow bar that made contact as far as I could see.

Oh yes, she was very sure to take all of my details!

As I said the bumper is pretty much back in shape, so it's just the damage to the bonnet. No matter what I do, it won't die!

:P I can get a new bonnet in primer off fleabay for about £40 - is it worth it? Only about 5 hours left on the auction so have to decide pretty quickly!

I've just had a vision... :o TT driving around tunbridge well's tea rooms in a Rover 400 with a "carbon fibre effect" bonnet, a different design of wheel at each corner and a big wing on the boot. Has anyone ever been tempted to chav their shed? Go on TT you could start a new trend. Buy that primered bonnet and paint it matt black for starters and then go from there.

Nooooo

I'm not that pikey. I think the gf would refuse to get into the car as well.

The bonnet that I mentioned earlier is not worth it as it turns out - min £30 to buy, £35 postage as it's bloody miles away and then painting on top of that thumbsdown

Have found this though:

I'm not sure it's quite the right colour though  And before you say it, don't! :P

You have a girlfriend? :o

Slightly different coloured bumpers wouldn't work, it'd have to be red or something.

 looks like a tahiti blue bonnet in the eBay ad - assume that's not the colour of yours TT?

Surely the true shed approach is to do a bit of panel beating? Assuming you're going to have to take the bonnet off anyway, I reckon you might as well give a rubber mallet a shot...

That bonnet is about 2 mins from where i live at home. If you do decide to go for it i could pick it up for you and bring it back to Reading if that makes collection any easier.

Actually, are you from Tunbridge Wells? If so i am quite often in East Grinstead I suppose that would be better.

Let me know :)

How do you know it's tahiti blue? Are you some sort of Rover spotter? :o :P

I don't think it is quite the right colour, I may buy it anyway. I am asolutely sure if I start whacking it with a rubber mallet it will come out worse!

Yep I live in TW rob. That may be very useful actually - firstly I will find out if it's the right colour. If not I will see how much it will cost to have it sprayed so I may well still buy it.

TT - you drive a shed. Spraying new panels is not the done thing mate :beat: As I see it you have four options in decending order of preference: 1. Leave it as it is 2. Tape up the gap between the bonnet and the wing with Duck tape if you're scared of it flying up into the air (worked well on my VX when I did a similar thing to it) 3. Give it a few whacks with a rubber hammer 4. Put a used replacement on without any of this spraying nonsense thumbsup

Been plenty of Rover cars in my family - Dad used to work for them. I had a Rover 200 way back when they were new cars rather than sheds :D Twas tahiti blue. Managed to sell it after a couple of years for close to five grand after I'd blown the engine once  How times change...

Still reckon there's panel-beating potential - whaddya got to lose?? :tt:
