I'm not sure that £2k plus can mean it is a shed TT?! But you can recoup some by selling the private plate - can't see it being worth "over £800" though!!

Nice car though, 142k on the clock already. 200k in no time.

Glad to see you're as proud to own her as I was, P4cksy!!

I know it's a little more money than the usual shed but I think I'm allowed to spoil myself a bit as I don't actually have a decent car to run alongside it anymore

That's the only downer - big miles. But it looks like it's been very well looked after and I suspect they're just motorway miles. Those BMW turbo diesels will go on forever! I do about 18k pa so it would take at least 3 years to get it to 200k and I never really keep any cars longer than a year so I'm not really that fussed.

I'm not really bothered about the value of it though, I'd price it below anything else.

poor shed... other than an oil change about 5k miles ago i've done nowt to it. got most of the way up the M3 last night and noticed that the temperature gauge was at nearly 100 deg c! :o stopped off at a service station and bought some coolant and two two litre bottles of evian for £1.80 (nothing but the best for the shed  ) the cooling system was nearly bone dry! when i popped the bonnet to put the coolant in and took the cap off the expansion tank SO much steam came out, a bunch of kids in vauxhall zafira laughed their @rses off! been fine ever since though, mind you i need to call the garage and see how it's done in it's service  :( edit: needless to say, if it had been the vx it would have burst into flames as soon as the temp gauge teetered over 90 deg c :beat:

Oh that's another thing I remember about my Cinq - major overheating problems! Never went anywhere without a 2l bottle of water in the back, until the problem was fixed. After replacing nearly the whole of the cooling system it turned out to be the £1.50 expansion tank cap that wasn't holding pressure

Back on topic - have phoned about the 75 TD and he's dropped the price to £1995. He's in Chelmsford so I might do a looooooong detour on the way back to Wales tomorrow

If he's already dropped the price to £1995 TT, you could get it for less still I should think. Its looking good value at that sort of money, as long as the engine is as good as claimed. Good luck, let us know if you make a purchase!

Well I saw it yesterday and it was a waste of time tbh  First impressions were good - a decent amount of stone chipping on the front of it, but what you'd expect for 142k, and it it didn't show up to badly on the silver paintwork. There was a bit of a scrape on the drivers side but otherwise very neat. Interior looked good as well. Engine ran perfectly - it hadn't been pre-warmed so a good sign. But when we went to go for a test drive it wouldn't go into gear - clutch was clearly gone. He battled with it for a bit, and could only get a gear by turning the engine off and back on again. So we crawled round the block in 2nd gear  Even with a new clutch (which he said he'd do), it had a couple of warning lights on (ABS and something else) so I really wasn't interested. Which is a shame as the engine seemed perfect and was in decent nick Oh well, onto the next - there's one in London that's lower spec but newer and with 99k on the clock so I'll probaby try to have a look next weekend.

Oh dear, bit of a waste of time then mate. I'm never sure why people advertise their cars when they've got problems like that and have warning lights flashing too!! Good luck with the next one. You're definatley up for a 75 aren't you? Have you fixed your bonnet yet?!

Yeah I was a bit hacked off as I'd taken a rather large detour to go and see it (Tunbridge Wells to south Wales via Chelmsford  ). I do like the 75, and it's very good value - even the mid spec ones have heated seats, dual zone climate etc and are known to be pretty reliable. Combine that with the BMW engine and you're onto a winner. So at least I know now I want a 75 TD in at least Club spec Haven't bothered touching the bonnet tbh, think I will leave it for now. It was fine on the motorway to and from Wales.
