i'll keep an eye out ant. Just found out that you don't have to pay VAT upon arrival as it will be second hand. No need for SVA because it's EU. So you need.
-proof of address
-proof of insurance
-proof of license
-car documentation (from country of origin)
-Bill of sale (with amount paid)
-DVLA docs (V55 or something)

so far it looks pretty easy.

The slight issues are:
-I've a few saftey concerns over the little smart
-My german isn't that great, although i got to pratice with McGuard on the phone yesterday
-The prices seem to vary hugely
-A dutch import might be cheaper...

something

Everything ok i hope

Ant and TT, This couldn't be easier. I've just spoken to Customs and Excice. If the car is more than 6 months and more than 6k Km then there are no charges to bring it into the country. The car can remain on its german plates for 6 months. so we just drive in. for registration: DVLA: I said above: V55/5 38quid for the registration Road tax fee (which i think will be 0 for the smart) Type aproval which is certificate of conformity (smart should supply this) MOT proof of age (V5 equvilent) Uk import document called a VAT414, i just c&e to mail it to me. and thats it. Come on then, what we waiting for... :P

Yep we did but I did a group reply to our work email addresses as I thought that would be easier for discussions. You should have a couple of emails waiting for you there :)

:D yup, its the same as yours now :P I gave my other shed to my sister after making it realiable again (rad, clutch, drive shaft seals, alternator repair). I drove it the other day and it still feels good. So i've bought a new one. paid even less than the first. Haven't actually picked it up yet as its miles away ( i hadn't expected to win it) looking forward to picking it up and going bio
