you just putting veg oil straight in - 50/50 mix ?
will my 1.7 like it ?

100% veg

Yours is the same engine so it will work fine. Ant is the expert.

10%petrol is recomended if you don't like slightly lumpy tick over until warm (once warm i can't really feel the difference between veg and diesel)

Ant and I both have sacraficial filters pre fuel filter. Its just another way of being tight and not wanting to change the proper fuel filter. halfords i'm told £2

Tescos is better at 50p a litre for the 10L can, 52p a litre for the 15L you pay no tax until you use more than 2500l per year i've been running on it since June 30th (tax change date) and i've saved 50 quid already (in 2 weeks) thats 1250 a year.

*shakes head* James, you know that you need to retard the timing to get the best from veg :P that gets rid of the chipshop smell as well thumbsup of course, burning a fuel that is pretty much carbon neutral means that you can forgive yourself letting the car run out of 100% perfect tune thumbsup can't wait until i can get myself a bigger garage and filter wvo properly :) that'll mean as little environmental impact as possible (using a waste product) and 0p per mile fuel costs

got a pic of where to put this filter, im such a n00b with diesels it isnt funny, first diesel i've ever owned, and how do you retard the timing with no dizzy ?

there are a couple of ways of retarding the timing, but i suggest you don't. i haven't had a good look at the pump/ pulley arrangement on the bosch pump fitted to corsas, but from what little i remember there isn't any way of adjusting it as there is, say, on a clio diesel, so i'd leave well alone if i were you thumbsup i've just been outside to take a pic of where to locate the filter and if i can text it to James Gray and he can host it, you'll get the idea pretty quickly. James? edit: this is a general comment and not aimed at luna_s in any way- if you're a bit out of it when it comes to vehicle mechanicals/ interested in any of this, do you own research. everything i have stated here is available elsewhere on the internet and probably better described there. /disclaimer

text it to me and i'll host. Or i could get off my lazy backside and take a picture of mine. Ant, i was thinking about this last night. I think that if we retarded the timming by one tooth of the cam belt that would be roughly equivalent to 5 degrees. So my proposition is thus: Lets try it with yours and see how it goes and if it works we'll do it to mine. :D thumbsup shall we go for a drink this week? TT might make it along if we make it a bit closer to his. Sheds only so he'll be fine in his new CTR thumbsup re the disclaimer, i would suggest that people considering this should: a) not care about the car too much so that if it does break you can just shrug your shoulders and try again. b)read vegetableoildiesel.com, which is a great source of all things veg. Their meets look ermm interesting though...

ta for pic, and no probs with disclaimer, i try to do more research than most :P looking at your pic, is that the feed FROM the normal filter to the pump ?, looking at the direction of the filter i assume so, surely the inline filter wants to be before the main filter ? thus protecting it ? and needs to be in the other line ? saying that i know nothing!

this really is very simple, see below:

Posted Image

the filter is marked with an arrow to indicate the direction that the fuel has to flow thumbsup

i can't stress enough, if you think you'll have problems DON'T DO IT!

if you mess your car up/ get stranded, you'll wish you'd just been chucking diesel in there the whole time!

cool, well i just wanted to be careful thumbsup i knew chuff all about diesels until just over a year ago. i was lucky enough to be taught by a marine engineer who knows just about all there is to know about diesel engines though :D
