Ant, I've had a great idea. I'm bored of pouring veg oil into the corsa and equally bored of having to mix it with a little petrol. So I'm building a fuel pumping station. :D 1000L tank should do the job nicely. Pump is a bit of an issue, i think i'm going to get bored with a hand pump so it needs to electric and of decent throughput. What i really need is a nozzle from a dissused proper petrol station too. I will then be able to mix a special blend and then refill every 6 months.

i forget what sort of pump you'll need, but i had a similar plan when i was planning on brewing my own biodiesel . basically it worked on the basis that the pump that would be used to recirculate the filtered wvo and mix it with the methanol and NaOH could then be then be switched, by use of a valve to pump what you'd just made into the car. think i have a basic schematic somewhere.... on a slightly separate topic i passed a white 306 xldt in traffic the other day with a big black sticky stain on the side of it below the filler cap and run marks. i think i know what the driver has been up to ;) on a separate topic again.... how's work mate? central heating pumo should do the trick btw thumbsup

Going to France. No summer and No vx so i'm not sure how thrilling its going to be. We are going to be buying the floors for the new house though, which should be fun. Will give you hand with the house the following week end, keeps me out of the redrow building site with is supposed to be restricted

1.5 dci? I didn't know that they were that cheap to tax. My other half who is about to start doing starship miles could do with something like that. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?>

ah oops, very close posting time, i missed you last post justin. Environmental thing was in relation to the veg oil. although 65mpg diesel will be better than most. As you can imagine i wouldn't bother if it wasn't cheap

does anyone else get any bother with the alternator belts on the corsa 1.7D (non turbo) ? i keep having to adjust every other week (you can tell when it starts slipping as the taho stops reading), and it eats belts - the other belt is fine ive used pattern and OEM belts, - its really annoying as its a PITA (under car job) to do i hate cars

Its a fairly common problem I've recently reverted back to an non-toothed belt and it works much better. I would make sure it is tight though. There is an oil cooler on the back of the alternator that probably aught to be working properly.

I've just read this thread you boys really are special

i always knew i was special!

seriously though, even leaving aside the 'are we causing global warming' argument, i can't see how people can do the miles i do (100 miles a day) in say a big 30mpg car, with only them as the passenger. needless waste thumbsdown

I can't beleive your car is still managing 100 miles a day the way you drive it. :P :D
