Just bought myself a shed B)

1993 Merc C250 Sports Diesel, fourth owner with 190,000ish on the clock so barely run in. It has loads of extras - electric windows, mirrors, sunroof; central locking, cd auto changer, adjustable headlights. remote rear headrests  new tyres, spare brake pads, pimping red interior, bit of rust, a private plate and a nasty rattle about 900rpm. Still £850 all in says it's a shed.

Next step is to get it through the MOT and then try some veggie oil in it. Anyone recommend any forums?

Cheers TT - I'm loving it at the moment. It warm and quiet, comfortable and I don't feel the need to overtake everything. I've just bought a Haynes manual of fleabay so looking forward to getting my spanners out too. Managed to get 38mpg out of her aswell - bonus!

chinky chinky Ant

It's been really well looked after tbh, still got the merc toolkit in, every mot pass and the original pdi check from the dealer.

Fixed one of the eight :o speakers in it this afternoon, took a door apart to try and fix the electric window but couldn't.

I work at a place that produces 3000 meals per day so getting hold of wvo shouldn't be a problem, think I'll start with svo first...will keep you posted

pedro, please, please, PLEASE(!) check the pump before throwing veg in it!! mercedes used a special randomiser to decide which models got boschs. generally the 2.5s are bosch, with the 2.2s generally being lucas, but with manufacturers spec patterns you always need to check to be 100% sure. my shed is currently suffering from the following problems: air leak in the fuel lines reducing performance even further heater doesn't work (i assume the matrix is full of silt) clutch is shot rev counter issues it's still a corsa i dream of upgrading to a merc *sighs*

That lovely 205 I had lined up has died, apparently. Luckily before I bought it. Anyone seen anything good around? And not a Merc, my other shed is a Merc (that would make a great bumper sticker!)

Hmm I'm a little reluctant to call mine a shed as really, she's my princess :( 2.9 V6 12V Granada Scorpio. 50k miles, one previous owner, leather, auto, heated seats, cruise control etc etc 750 notes - i'm a real "classic" ford fan, love old fords. easy to self service, keeps up with the best of them, sweet sounding V6 which sounds very ganster on kick down :D

afaik the corsa used a jap copy of a bosch pump, there are links to websites which will help you identify the pump in this thread. this was for the '93- '00 corsa b, the 2000 onwards corsa c is a direct injection (as well as being a more cheaply thrown together car :( ) so no good for svo/ wvo thumbsdown lots of veggers swear by the xud engined peugeots. there are a few problems with this however, these are: consumption (mid thirties mpg likely- what's the point?) engine size (higher road tax bracket) design (a bugger to work on/ even more badly thrown together than a poxall) not all used a bosch, some are lucas cost over a poxall (the chavaliers, ashtrays and corsas are all VERY cheap now) in other news, and i've been meaning to post this for a couple of days for smile value.... i actually managed to repair my car with the proverbial 'sticky backed plastic' this week. a slight split between where the rubber fuel pipe connects via a union to the metal pipe that runs under the car meant i was suffering from an air leak in the fuel line, leading to a real pita under acceleration (i.e. there was none). bound the whole lot up with the market leading clear sticky tape and it's as good as new :D . no more air getting into the system! new fuel line arrives on saturday ;)

Ant, Do you know if the 1.7cdti are direct injection? I fancy a slightly larger car for karting house stuff around. I thought an astra estate might work ok. Was the old vertra estate diesel a direct or not? What i really want is a mondeo tdci estate (not vegable) but i averaged 60mpg on a 600mile round trip the other day. What is the world coming too. Right i'm going back to tunning and mods to talk about superchargers and grrrrrr stuff like that. This is actually a pointless post, as the corsa only has 90k miles on it and i'm not parting with it until it dies. So that should mean another 100k or so.
