Ding!

You don't fancy doing mine do you?

I think my gearbox may be on the way out as well

nah gearboxes never go wrong. I'm pretty sure my bmw one has had no oil in it for the last 60k miles and its fine.

Clutches though, well a good test is hand brake on- select 4th or 5th dial in 2k rpm and lift the clutch. If it doesn't stall its fooked. no hard to change though.

You should be ashamed. It's clean, no after market wheel trims, no damage, no rust. I bet the tyres are made by someone you've heard of. Pathetic.

I see that someone has thoughtfully drawn a red oval on the back of your car. ;) That's a good start to shed ownership thumbsup

oh and Ant, as for stats compairing I've just found out: 1.5D, 50bhp around 94mph max and 0-60 in 16 secs.(and that was when it was new) Oh yes its fast! but, combined mpg 53! which is why i'm getting 65-70 on long motorway journeys. it keeps up with traffic on the motorways too.

Spot the problem :D :

Nowt that a heavier grade of oil won't fix. Or maybe just turn the radio up as the noise gets louder. Just make sure you have your Police Aware sticker in the event of a breakdown.

i'll just wack new geabox seals in this after-noon. How long do you recon it will take to split the ball joints from the bottom of the wishbones, silly question really. It all depends how big the hammer is. :D

Tragically the ball joint splitter is one of my favourite tools. I don't know why. Perhaps it is the big bang that they make when the tapers finally give way.

on the subject of fooked gearboxes. mine makes a juddering thumping knocking noise at about 3-3.5k which then disappears when i get past that. first i'm going to check there's oil in the 'box. then i'm going to ignore it if there is oil in there thumbsup just reminds me a bit too much of the noise the gearboxes i had in my traveller made as the 1340cc a-series racing spec engine i had munched through them. rattle rattle rattle snap. 4 standard gearboxes and one two litre sierra one. those were the (chucking a load of money away) days. thumbsup

Does the noise stop if you put your foot on the clutch, Ant?
