that'd cost you some proper money tho Ant, the diesels are hard to come by

they're awesome motors though, last forever and you get a lot of car for your money. shed got dropped off to get fixed this evening, fingers crossed it's done tomorrow :)

I know it's not a proper shed - but i'm loving my panda chinky chinky

saw a load of the old school 4x4 pandas when i was in livigno skiing, have to say i'd love one! :D

I took my shed to France last week. Whilst i was there i thought best to look at the sills for an Mot soon. Well erm, the results were a little shocking. I managed to poke a screwdriver though both sills, most of the way down the length of the car. So i've welded it up (not very well i might add as i was in a bit of a rush) Today there is a puddle of diesel on the road under the tank. No idea why, its obviously unconnected to the above. Oh yes and it was diesel, my fuel pump has developed a leak that was cured by using diesel rather than veg oil. Veg oil is also about 79p now and i seem to get getting only 85-95% of the miles from a tank. Therefore it doesn't really make sense at the moment. Testing, these sheds sometimes.

Yep.... surprisingly pleasing... Most of the marks were dirt rubs, so looks like a bumper remove, respray, realign, refit. With a possible replacement of the reinforcer/lower bumper section. Overall though, it looks good. Estimated at £320+VAT for paint and labour, its just whether they need to replace any parts on top. Lodged it with his insurance co today, decided against helphire as I want to use the local VW bodyshop rather than a helphire one. His company recommended that I call my insurance company as he may delay it b not being home til Sunday, but I will leave mine out of it for now I think as I'd rather go through his and deal with it that way, not paying excesses etc as my excess is quite high.

Yeah you would get it back but still a pita. I think going through local VW is the best decision. Even though you might be running around in a shitty car for a few days when they do the work.

arse - My usually reliable shed lunched the alternator belt on the M40 on the way to a clients site thumbsdown Carried on driving but started rained so had to use wipers... next all the lights went out, dash started to flicker and it ground to a halt outside Beaconsfield :( Got dragged off the M40 and bought back home for the princely sum of £260!! (can claim it back on my recovery policy). The reason the couldnt fix it is the the immobiliser lost its ability to talk to the fob so they couldnt start it and i havend got a "emergency key code" - double feck :angry2: Will try to fix the AB this weekend.... And start it. And buy a new battery

Update on my growing shed collection: - Citroen running very nicely thank you, just need to build myself up to do the cambelt, haynes at the ready... Plan is to run it at as little cost as poss for a year or two, but keep mileage low (on the IOM) then import it to UK and sell on - donated Mondeo also running fine, not as nice to drive as the ZX tho, and it has a rattle from the rear - amazingly the ZX doesn't rattle at all! I can't sell this on tho as it is the family emergency pool car, will be passed on to next person in need - Merc back next weekend from independent specialist who has been bringing it back up to scratch - 200k on it but driving very well, a good example and not much rust, he says.

I have joined the ranks too! Got myself a lovely little Mazda 626 complete with flat cap. It was actually bargain of the century. £500, which includes electric everything, air conditioning, leather etc... it really is quite a luxurious place to be compared with the VX. Did i mention that it is totally immaculate!?

well shall we start with where is didn't fail? seriously though, it failed on B pillar cracks both sides, need welding and painting. Suspension mounts both sides rear need to be rebuilt One of the front lights points the wrong way, thats easy. Brake load sensor at the rear has fallen apart. Funniest thing was a converstation that went a long the lines of: Him: Sir, did you know that you have 11 different plates welded the the sills? Me:  Ermm, well yes i think so Him: The welding requied for the things i have listed as 'failled' are going to need to be much better than that, do you know who did it? Me: ermm, no i can't remember  ( it was me  ) I did actually wisper that it might have been me, and he said: "well not too bad for a amateur i suppose" .

My Astra passed its MOT today, well pleased, no problems at all. I now need a full service and cam-belt change and I'm ready for a year in her. Any news on your corsa yet JG? Simon

Yep, Shed passed its mot in the end with a little welding. All in it cost 160 quid which seems pretty good value really for 20,000 miles this year. It is for sale now though as it is going to become surplus to requirement. Its been good though.
