all isuzu engines have bosch pumps. As long as its a pre 97ish 1.7 it will be ok. All Isuzus look the same and the turbos have a dodgy 80's style sticker on the rocker. There are plenty of pictures in this thread. I rather miss my corsa, but the volvo is currently doing 55mpg, but its getting hard work. I'm on a mission this week to eek the maximum number of miles from a tank. Currently the (not so acurate) needle is indicating half a tank and i've done 425miles. would be nice to see 750. it will cost £80-90 to fill though. The corsa used to cost £20 and did 400-450miles.

I made a big effort with a tank diesel last week in my Astra diesel and got 618 out of a tank. Was well pleased with that. 55 litre tank. Let us know how many you get James.

Thanks for the info guys.

svo (new veg oil) is currently running at the same price (OR MORE) than diesel, so it's time for you to hunt out old people's homes (TT may be able to help you here tongue.gif ) or any other sort of place that does a lot of cooking with oil and changes it frequently. i currently have about 200 litres of long life (palm oil content sad.gif ) wvo that i'm looking to filter, blend with RUG and use or i'll be waiting to turn into biodiesel once my processor's finished smile.gif

I noticed my local supermarket was selling 15ltrs of svo at 97.8 pence per litre. It also happens to be the same company I work for and I get a 10% staff discount, every little helps as they say thumbsup

edit: what do you mean second best thread, i think you'll find it's the most readable and useful thread on here wink.gif

Go for it mate, you should easily make 700. Don't trust me though, I've run out a couple of times trying to squeeze a few extra miles out of a tank! It is amazing how far you can go after the light has come on though...

Fuel light bingo. Great game. Last time I played was coming back from Spa, light came on before Dunkerque doing 80-90mph and didn't fill until we hit good old blighty :tt: Do you have the balls for 720 :poke: edit; ohh look, it only took me 2 years and 10 months to become a SUPER MEMBER. (about 2 minuets work for YorB)

i bailed at 680 but i only managed to get 61L of fuel in it so thats 49mpg. Quite happy with that really. :D This week is not going quite so well. Just bombed it from Farnborough to Abingdon at 95ish and the fuel gauge when i got here wasn't looking great. I guess thats what go get when you try to push a brick through the air, fast.

i'll ignore that

James, have to say i was VERY impressed with my shed on the weekend, the ENTIRE back of it, all the way to the headlining, was full of concrete, there was NO suspension travel as it had bottomed out and it still easily got to the tip and back. no joke, there must have been the best part of a ton of concrete in there.

can't say enough good things about those isuzu diesel engines!

although.....

the braided oil line from the pump on the back of the alternator has split and the thing is currently rustproofing the underside of my car  . it's going into the garage tomorrow to have it changed as the bolt is a bit rounded off and i want it to be able to get changed ;)

oh, it's currently doing 55mpg ;) :)

i did shockingly on the last tank 550 miles £90 to fill up. Might try for a new record this week. but i now get 40p/mile from the moment i leave home in my new job, so i'm a bit less careful.

Just realised the new shed has done 5k miles since the 2th of may!! (the vx has done 5k miles in 24months ) Not quite as cheap to service as the corsa either. cambelt on the corsa was £17 :D the kit for the volvo is £120 includes two belts, three tentioners and a stretch bolt for the crank pulley. I've a feeling the procedure could be be fairly exciting

i've started running on the svo i bought off you James. i've noticed a fuel consumption of approx 1.5 times that when running on dino! this means i'm only seeing about 40 to the gallon. i'm going to keep checking, but i'll have to make sure that i only run it on wvo if i veg it, svo is too expensive by comparison! however, those 20 litre carbuoys it comes in could be very useful! i think they're at least a fiver each bought off fleabay! i'll need some more for storing blended wvo/ RUG, do you think we could arrange that you could buy some more 20 litre svo in the carbuoys from bookers on your card and i'll come pick them up? it'll be worth the extra for the veg if i get the plastic containers ;) i need a stack of them (currently have 300 litres of wvo in my garden shed).

Its a shame because I couldn't get rid of those containers fast enough. I dumped about two dozen of the bloody things last time. I'll get more for you if you like but they are about 17 quid each these days :(

shed update - nearing 3 years (October) of ownership and 35000 miles, 73000 in total! :tt: Dont do much mileage now as home/work/nursery are a 6 mile round trip 3 days a week, only done 2000 miles since January. Though going to Newcastle on Thursday, 400 mile round trip.... Will try to get maximum mpg as its work time/mileage rate! MOT this weekend... hope it passes!
